I was going off of a Wikipedia page for the pronunciations, embarrassingly enough. 
I thought it was odd as well, as I never hear Greek names with an e at the end pronounced as such, but supposedly it is a pronunciation some use for the plant! 
I much prefer lee-ree-O-pee, myself, but I was just curious if others would use it instinctively!
