okay this is kind of a different vibe but khadija, abdel, and jamal ?? chef’s kiss
Part 2
Hello I’m trying to pair English names with Hebrew names. While Hebrew names don’t necessarily need to correspond with English names, these children would be raised in Israel and probably called their Hebrew names by most people there but their English names by friends and family in the US and I’d like to make it not TOO confusing for them.
Poll 1: vote for all the names you like regardless if you think they’d be too complicated / not work well as English/Hebrew names
meanings of the Hebrew name are in parentheses
- Isadora /// Tzipporah (bird)
- Fern /// Frida/Frayda (joy)
- June /// Gefen (vine)

Poll 2: Vote based NOT on which names you like but on which ones are not TOO confusing, or generally make sense if this child is to be called by both names
- Isadora /// Tzipporah (bird)
- Fern /// Frida/Frayda (joy)
- June /// Gefen (vine)

I voted for ‘yes, but rarely’ because I know that ay-vuh is an existing pronunciation that some people may use, even though I haven’t ever encountered it (only ee-vuh or eh-vuh)
I actually was super close to putting [name_m]Jamal[/name_m] on the list but it felt more like a little bro than big bro? if that makes sense?
The only [name_f]Eva[/name_f] I ever knew said it like [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. I’d always guess ee-va because I much prefer that pronunciation to [name_f]Ava[/name_f] but I wonder if people would default to [name_f]Ava[/name_f] because it’s a more common name.

I really love names like Ethel, Edith, Helen, Irene, Marnie, Imogene, and Dorothy in this “new school revitalization aren’t Grandma name the best?” way but Gladys feels like a GP – does she fit with the group or is Gladys too far gone?
- Team Baby Gladys
- We aren’t ready
- I’m not personally ready for Gladys but I’m not ready for Ethel either and I don’t really see a difference between them so I guess I’m team Gladys for you

For a story I have a character names [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and for his bro I actually considered [name_u]Florian[/name_u], [name_u]Banks[/name_u] and [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]! I ended up going with [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] but I think those go really well with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] too!
