The Roo Redo, Part Two: Middle Names for Ditaroo

Oooh, I like [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Willow[/name] Illyria!

Combos:

[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Willow[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Sybilla[/name] [name]Delphine[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Charis[/name]

My vote is for [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Celeste[/name] (absolutely beautiful), [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Wren[/name].
I don’t like [name]Willow[/name] with Illyria - far too heavy on the ‘ill’ sound in my opinion. Illyria [name]Laurel[/name] is slightly awkward too.

Here are some other suggestions (apologies for any repeats):
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Delphine[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Florence[/name] Idunn
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Maia[/name] [name]Estelle[/name]/[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Maia[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Olwen[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

And they’re all overly frilly, but if you’re going with [name]Aphrodite[/name], ‘frilliness’ is a given!

Good luck!

[name]Long[/name] day at work - promise for a more thorough look-see at your list tomorrow (hopefully) but I wanted to share my first impressions on a few of the names.

[name]Rose[/name] - Theoretically I really like the idea of keeping a [name]Rose[/name] name to honor her original name but I just keep thinking of Roses as a symbol for [name]Aphrodite[/name] and it just seem to themey. All you’d need to do is change Illyria to [name]Elysia[/name]/n and it would be a Greek-myth trifecta. I feel similarly about [name]Delphine[/name] because it reminds me of Dolphins, [name]Estelle[/name] (because it feel like a smoosh of the [name]Evening[/name] [name]Star[/name], and [name]Violette[/name]. If you decide not to keep [name]Rose[/name] you could always plant Roses in the garden or on the patio in honor/remembrance.

Aello - Oooo… so very intriguing and I love that it’s short. Would make for a great 3rd name to balance out two longer ones.

[name]Angelica[/name] - This and [name]Evangeline[/name] are just two names I don’t get. I actually find the imagery of [name]Angelica[/name] and [name]Aphrodite[/name] together confusing. Somehow my brain is trying to combine [name]Aphrodite[/name] and [name]Psyche[/name] and … nope, it just doesn’t jive.

[name]Clementine[/name] - [name]Clementine[/name] doesn’t feel very blue-green and sea foamy. Instead if feels like bright citrus and yellowy-orange. (I mean you know, like the fruit.)

[name]Cressida[/name] - I like [name]Cressida[/name]. It reminds me of waves about to crash onto a beach.

[name]Delphine[/name] - see the [name]Rose[/name]/n combo above.

[name]Estelle[/name] - see the [name]Rose[/name]/n combo above.

[name]Florence[/name] - Too Bottecelli [name]Venus[/name]! I feel like you wanted to honor the painter but didn’t want people to notice. I’d use [name]Simonetta[/name] his suspected love instead.

[name]Miranda[/name] - Too much [name]Shakespeare[/name] if paired with Illyria. [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Miranda[/name] Aello.

[name]Nell[/name] - I really like [name]Nell[/name] for the same reason I love [name]Wren[/name]. It’s short and sweet and would make a great 2nd middle to balance out two longer names in 1st and 2nd place. [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Nell[/name]

[name]Selene[/name] - [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Selene[/name] would be beautiful.

[name]Viola[/name] - see the [name]Rose[/name]/n combo above. Though I do love this but if you paired it with Illyria would it be too much [name]Shakespeare[/name]?

[name]Violette[/name] - see the [name]Rose[/name]/n combo above.

I’ve already posted with some new suggestions but I just thought… [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Beatrice[/name] is in fact rather stunning! I actually really like [name]Beatrice[/name] combined with quite a few if your new names… It flows rather well with [name]Aphrodite[/name] and
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Delphine[/name],
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] are all extremely pretty! [name]Just[/name] some food for thought if you wanted to pay a tribute to her original name!

Well I am pretty sure you already know my opinion - [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Willow[/name] Illyria plucks at my heartstrings@! I think, despite the double-twelfth night reference (and who cares? It might be my favorite shakespeare play) I also love [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Viola[/name] (gorgeous!!!)

Halloo your name to the reverberate hills and make the babbling gossip of the air cry out “[name]Aphrodite[/name]!” (okay not quite in meter but close)

I just wanted to say i think Ditaroo makes an extremely cute nn

I’m still on [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Rose[/name] - for the same reasons as before - It gives her atleast “one” normal, more “easily” blendable name and it sounds great!

I do think you need one name that is more capable of blending in, for her own sake.

Thanks lovelies!

[name]Christina[/name]; I looooooove Seawillow (yes, with multiple o’s). And I love it with Illyria, so cute!

[name]Renny[/name]; oooh, that kind of makes me like Aella/Aello more. A connection to Agg/Ayella! Wohoo!

C&P; thanks, I love the [name]Rosen[/name] one too, the connection to her Cornish side would be a nice little salute. I also love [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Miranda[/name] [name]Rosen[/name], so pretty.

[name]Bonnie[/name]; [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Delphine[/name] and [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Delphine[/name] [name]Willow[/name] are lovely, thank you!

Svea; that was my fault, I should’ve closed the thread! Thanks, I like that combo as well.

[name]Tay[/name]; thanks, I love [name]Thalassa[/name] and Melanthe but they’re a bit much with the first name I think!

Bellarina; thank you so much, I love [name]Tabitha[/name] too!

Bladey; [name]Love[/name] the way you reason your way through names. [name]Lettice[/name] is beautiful, I really like it, and it does fit right in. Illyria is not set in stone, we’re having a discussion about it at the moment.

Flamingo; yes, I know, but it’s also the Cornish word for rose, and we’ve got Cornish family (or he has).

[name]Betty[/name]; thanks, I quite like [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Celeste[/name]!

[name]Dina[/name]; I really love [name]Charis[/name] too… it’s so beautiful.

[name]Zelia[/name]; thank you! [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Selene[/name] is so lovely!

Fluz; [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Willow[/name] [name]Delphine[/name] and [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Laurel[/name] [name]Clemency[/name] are gorgeous, thank you!

[name]Lulu[/name]; thank you, those are very pretty!

mge; [name]Aphrodite[/name]'s pronounced af-ruh-[name]DAI[/name]-tee.

natural; thank you, those are some of my very favourites too! [name]Mazarine[/name] is very pretty, but I don’t really feel a connection to it…

brynie; I did think about it, but three is too many… I even think two can be too much

[name]Kathryn[/name]; thanks, I think those are lovely too.

[name]Gwen[/name]; oh, I like [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Charis[/name] very much! Thank you!

[name]Araminta[/name]; thanks, I like [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Delphine[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Nell[/name] so much!

[name]Lex[/name]; wow, look at that! Thanks so much, and I agree with almost everything you said. I do like [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Miranda[/name] Aello and [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Nell[/name]. Thanks for taking the time to comment on the names, it’s very helpful.

Moonie; I quite like [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Viola[/name]!! And [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Willow[/name] Illyria is beautiful… thanks!!

Tiggerian; oh, yes, if we choose to go with Illyria the second middle will be something completely normal!

Thanks all again, so much!

I should’ve said this in the original post; if we choose to go with Illyria, the second middle will be a normal name (bye bye Aello and nature names!) like [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Tabitha[/name] or [name]Celeste[/name]. Boyfriend isn’t too keen on Illyria; he’s okay with it because he thinks it’s beautiful and knows how much I love it, but he thinks that with [name]Aphrodite[/name] we should have two normal middles to even things out.

[name]Just[/name] so you know i’ve always been terrible at middle names.
I was thinking ‘[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Angelica[/name] [name]Wren[/name]’ but that’s 2 a’s isn’t it! see…

[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Wren[/name] sounds quite similar to that. Or [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Letitia[/name] [name]Wren[/name].

[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Rose[/name] gets my vote

[name]Just[/name] out of curiosity, what will you do if you feel she no longer suits [name]Aphrodite[/name] in a couple of months, or her spirit changes?

My favorites:

[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Wren[/name]

Congratulations on solidifying the first name!

As far as middle names go, I really like Illyria, so if you can keep that one around, I think it’d be pretty great. I also like the idea of using [name]Rose[/name], as it associates to her original first name (and I like [name]Rose[/name] quite a bit more than [name]Rosen[/name], not such a fan of that one). I also like the idea of having one of the MNs be a bit shorter (such as [name]Rose[/name]), since [name]Aphrodite[/name] and Illyria are both quite long.

Thus, my top choice for you would be [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Rose[/name]

However, since your dude likes the idea of using two more ‘normal’ middle names (and I do see the logic in this request, with [name]Aphrodite[/name]), if the two of you decide to go this route, I like (I’m not the biggest fan of [name]Tabitha[/name], and though I really like [name]Celeste[/name], I don’t like it together with [name]Aphrodite[/name] as much.):

[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Nerissa[/name] [name]Willow[/name] (have you ever considered [name]Nashira[/name]?)
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

I quite like the second MN being either [name]Willow[/name], [name]Wren[/name] or [name]Rose[/name].

Good luck with this! I’m really looking forward to hearing what you decide to go with!

I agree that you need a second middle that’s clear, but not heavy or mundane. Right now, my favorites are:

[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Celeste[/name] - The S and T sounds are like a squeeze of lime into bubbly A.I.

[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Rose[/name] - [name]Rose[/name] really comes alive in this combination. I like how earthy [name]Rose[/name] can feel when paired with something strong, rather than the usual [name]Juliet[/name]/[name]Evangeline[/name] etc. I think of [name]Aphrodite[/name] as powerfully feminine, not frilly, and I feel the same way about roses.

[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Clemency[/name] - This is gorgeous with a monosyllabic last name that sounds like [name]Els[/name]. I like that [name]Clemency[/name] is a departure from the ocean imagery of the rest of the name. It feels somehow old-fashioned and British to have a Greek goddess and a virtue name side by side.

[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Laurel[/name]
The double R/L sounds aren’t ideal, but I still really enjoy the sound, and I like the idea of using this simple, striking name that came to you in a dream. [name]Laurel[/name] makes me think of deep green mountains, cliffs, upward movement, wind. But not so much wind as to blow the name off-center.

[name]Willow[/name] on the other hand is so windy that she and Illyria create a storm of leaves. Illyria and [name]Willow[/name] sound nice together, but I find the pairing redundant in terms of its fluid-bendy-leafy-windy imagery.

I do like [name]Rosen[/name], though my first thought was of the Rosenbergs. Sounds like it’s meaningful to you.
[name]Lettice[/name] personalizes the name too, but it’s way too close to lettuce for me, at least visually.

My favorites of your other first middles:
[name]Miranda[/name] - Substantial, Shakespearean, sleek, makes me think of the sea.
[name]Cressida[/name] - [name]Green[/name] and blue, cresting waves. But [name]Cressida[/name] was rather a sad character…

[name]Tabitha[/name] - plays nicely with the Ts in [name]Aphrodite[/name]. I (like a previous poster) see campfires and patchwork quilts, not quite the feeling you were going for.
[name]Nerissa[/name] - Very on-the-nose with the Botticelli imagery, but a lovely watery name. I like the Ss.

[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Miranda[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Miranda[/name] Idunn
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Miranda[/name] [name]Selene[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Miranda[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Willow[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Nerissa[/name] [name]Willow[/name]

I remember you liked Rosebay. It’s unusual yet simple. A nice mix of [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Laurel[/name] (bay) with some wateriness thrown in.
[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria Rosebay.

I’m no help at all, there’s so many lovely names flying around the thread but [name]Nerissa[/name] is the one that really caught my eye. It’s lovely

My favourites are:

[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Charis[/name] ([name]Charis[/name] is one of favourite names. I adore it)
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Laurel[/name]

Yay, yay, yay. First let me just say that Ditaroo has me oohing and ahhing over here with adorableness. I’m glad you just mentioned this because I wanted to bring it up, but as I recall the point of concern just before she was born was to make sure you were naming a ‘real child’ and had a heavier emphasis on two normal names (ie: [name]Rosalind[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name]) and one magical one. Previously the honor of the magical name was given to Illyria which is undeniably lovely, but in my opinion it worked much better in the first combo because the other two names helped to ground it. Now, I’m not saying that it Can’t work here, but I do feel that now [name]Aphrodite[/name] has become your perfect, beautiful, magical name and as a pp said, she doesn’t need any competition. Also being a 4 syllable name she takes command of the combination naturally, and I think sticking with names 3-or-less to follow helps to make sure [name]Aphrodite[/name] isn’t overshadowed (not quite the right word but hopefully you get what I’m trying to say). Of your original choices I like:

[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Laurel[/name] Illyria (sounds less L-heavy than when it’s Illyria [name]Laurel[/name], and seperates the longer names)
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Willow[/name] Illyria (I keep backing myself into corners because I really want to keep a W name in lol)
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Willow[/name] (I like better than [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Wren[/name] for flow, and also prefer more normal [name]Tabitha[/name] to [name]Nerissa[/name])

*[name]Cressida[/name]- My fave! I am so obsessed with this name but trying not to be biased
([name]Delphine[/name]- Didn’t you say you don’t really like dolphins? lol)
*[name]Iris[/name]- A perfect shorter option that I know you’ve always been fond of
*[name]Laurel[/name]- Gorgeous but fits less easily into combos than [name]Willow[/name]. Ties to your dream are so sweet though
([name]Marion[/name]- I like the idea of it more than I like the sound of it in a combo here)
*[name]Rose[/name]- I love the idea to tie in to [name]Rosalind[/name], but I prefer the short form to [name]Rosen[/name]
([name]Selene[/name]- Makes the overall feel too much like nighttime for me. Save for [name]Ceridwen[/name])
([name]Sylvia[/name]- [name]Lovely[/name] and honorary, but maybe a bit too foresty?)
*[name]Vanessa[/name]- Very pretty! This has been my favorite to play with today and it is more normal than [name]Nerissa[/name]
*[name]Viola[/name]- Would help you have a [name]Shakespeare[/name] reference esp. if you don’t use Illyria, but I think [name]Violette[/name] is too frilly
*[name]Willow[/name]- I adore it, really think you should consider using this if you’re allowed, plus it sounds great with most combos

[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Viola[/name] [name]Willow[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Willow[/name] [name]Delphine[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Iris[/name] [name]Vanessa[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Viola[/name]

[name]Celeste[/name] is my #1 favourite at the moment so i’m going to be completely biased here! [name]Aphrodite[/name] Illyria [name]Celeste[/name] is perfect on every level imo but if your boyfriend isn’t down with Illyria, then [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Celeste[/name], [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Daphne[/name] Celete, [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Willow[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] and [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Nerissa[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] all sound lovely to me.

My only new contribution: [name]Aphrodite[/name] Lazuli [name]Celeste[/name]

[name]Signe[/name]; thanks, and I love your name! So beautiful

[name]Leona[/name]; I like the [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Wren[/name] one very much, thank you!

[name]Pinkie[/name]; spirits don’t change. We evolve and yeah, new things are added but the essence in us, the soul doesn’t.

[name]Hannie[/name], Kyemsma, [name]Archie[/name]; thanks so much for your opinions!!!

Javad; [name]Nashira[/name] is gorgeous, if I could persuade my man… he’s pretty set on two middles (I don’t want to push him into something he doesn’t want to) so Illyria may be out. I can always save it for a future child. And [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is lovely. Thank you!!

Emmsie; Thanks so much, great work as always. I very much like AI [name]Clemency[/name], it’s got something. I feel the same way you do about A and roses, feminine and powerful! I like basically all of your combos, A [name]Miranda[/name] Idunn and A [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Laurel[/name] are both outstanding. Wonderful creativeness. Rosebay’s out as the dude thinks it’s too hippie (crazy man ;)).

[name]Amy[/name]; I like Ditaroo too, it’s cute! I’m saying it all the time. My man is strongly encouraging me to let Illyria go, and even though I do love it, I think we might have to. It hasn’t become Roo’s name yet, so I can save it for a possible future daughter if I want to. I’m going to try to make it work with two normal middles anyway! You are right; I’m not a fan of dolphins (I mean, I like that they jump, that’s pretty neat but they’re creepy as well). Maybe just [name]Delphi[/name] would be better? Or too Olympian…? I adore all your combos, [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] [name]Vanessa[/name] are in particular stunning! They might be my favourites with [name]Aphrodite[/name]. I’d like to work [name]Laurel[/name] (or [name]Willow[/name]) in though, if I can. [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Vanessa[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]? [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Cressida[/name] [name]Willow[/name]? Pretty, but I like your combos better… Thank you, sweetie!

[name]Freya[/name]; [name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] is beautiful! Thank you!

Hmmm, I can’t seem to resist chiming back in with more detail.

I agree with Emma and javad–Tabitha feels very mismatched with the other names to me. I think the “ab” part of Tabitha really clashes with the ethereal-ness of Aphrodite.

I second pretty much everything Emma said; Miranda and Cressida are some of my favorites, too. I also love Viola, Nerissa, Charis, and Delphine.

I think with Aphrodite you can get away with one normal middle and one medium-normal middle (something like Viola or Sylvia that’s unusual but not terribly obscure.)

I second Hanniekitt’s suggestion of Aphrodite Illyria Charis.

more:

Aphrodite Viola Delphine
Aphrodite Charis Illyria
Aphrodite Cressida Violet/Violette
Aphrodite Miranda Willow
Aphrodite Charis Willow
Aphrodite Nerissa Delphine

(oh, and I totally get what you mean about dolphins. They creep me out, too. But I still like Delphine–it feels more floral/pastoral than aquatic to me.)

[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Miranda[/name] [name]Willow[/name] is lovely. I’d forgotten that [name]Willow[/name] would relate to your fiancé’s name.
Here’s a thought:
[name]Aphrodite[/name] [name]Stella[/name] [name]Maris[/name]
Ultra simple but magical and bright. You could start a future astrological theme. I know you’re not [name]Christian[/name], but what’s not to love about the BVM? Girl power!
