Most of us have a “runner up” name- the name that almost made the cut, but you found one loved just a teeny bit better.
Did you/will you use it as a middle name instead? Save it for another child? Never use it again?

I haven’t had this actual experience. With our two boys, we barely found agreed-upon names for them, so no runner-up names. We have one daughter. If we had more daughters, runner-up names would most likely be first names of subsequent daughters… if we had three or more daughters, we would have started using runner-up names for both first and/or middle names of subsequent girls.
With our son, there was no runner-up name, because my husband and I agreed on only one name. With our daughter, there was a runner-up name, but we went with our first choice right when we saw her.
