Has anyone ever read and or become way too obsessed with this book “The secret universe of names”? :-/
To be honest, I’m a little obsessed/have a collector mindset when it comes to names.
I’ve been trying to find the “perfect” name for a girl for our last name, as far as having all the
stars full in this silly book for being successful in different areas of life, good anagrams of first/last and first/middle last,
and good initials and monograms… but the end results are REALLY limiting, and then when I finally think I’ve got my “close to perfect” name someone says something like “It’s trendy.” or “I’d hire a [name]Hannah[/name] before I’d ever hire a [name]Zoe[/name].” and it’s back to the drawing board.
Anyone ever encountered this book before? “The [name]Secret[/name] Universe of Names”
Thoughts or opinions about it?
Also, the anagram site I keep looking at is:
I’ve never heard of it. (That I remember)
But I read Freakonomics, it’s a book about the hidden side of everything. THey have a chapter on names, and that really opened my eyes to why tryndee names are not good choices.
But I don’t let it totally limit my choices. Life is life, and there are successful people of all names, ages, sizes, colours, and creeds. There is no perfect name.
Example, according to Freakonomics [name]Atticus[/name]/[name]Adair[/name] are some of the best names for sucessful and more likely to be hired. However, I’d NEVER hire an [name]Adair[/name] over say…[name]Lindsey[/name] solely on names. I can’t stand the names [name]Atticus[/name] or [name]Adair[/name], and if both candidates were exactly the same in qualifications, I’d much rather the name [name]Lindsey[/name] over [name]Adair[/name]. And the name [name]Ethan[/name] over [name]Atticus[/name].
So don’t try too hard with the search for the perfect name, because it doesn’t exist. A [name]Zoe[/name] will not suffer more in life compared to a [name]Hanna[/name] because of her name.
An Alixxzahndreah will likely have more issues with somethings over a [name]Hannah[/name] however.
But I do have my choices limited by other things. Numerology being one of them. I’m a total believer in it, and so I always check the numbers for names, which throws out a lot of wonderful combos.
Also, Anagrams are such a non-issue. They’re never ever used in life, and are only done for fun. It’s a bit silly to rule out a name because of anagrams.
The Freakonomics take on names was fantastic! I love Numerology and actually just picked up The [name]Secret[/name] Universe of Names at the library an hour ago! It’s almost painful to step away from the book to post this! It’s amazingly interesting so far, absolutely loving it! I’ll post more later when I get through more of it.
I love the idea that there is more to a name than what meets the eye, I always knew there was something else to why you feel what you feel when you read certain names, why some give that icky feeling and some feel peaceful and etc.
There’s a branch of numerology “Chaldean”, that has alternate views on it. They also have the meanings of each letter of the alphabet and the energies: http://www.thereadingroom101.com/
Numerology is definitely a bit complicated at first. So lots of reading is required.
It’s bascially the “science” or what have you, of letters and numbers. Each letter is attributed to a number, and each number has a energy and meaning to it.
1 is about being a leader, independent, self-oriented, etc.
Where as 7 is about spirituality, the occult, mystery, etc.
