I love [name_u]Louise[/name_u] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] in theory, but I can’t stop myself from seeing “louse” or “lousy” for some reason when I look at them… So for that reason, I prefer [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]!
I love [name_u]Louise[/name_u]! It’s on my list as a first name, but I love it as a middle name too. It really does feel like it goes with just about everything, I’m not 100% why, but it does! I find it much harder to pair middle names with though when [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is up front, haha.
I agree with you that [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is a beautiful name, and I do kind of think it goes with almost everything in the middle spot! For me it has to do with its rhythm (I think I’ve heard people refer to it as iambic?); it’s kind of like [name_u]Marie[/name_u], which I think is a common middle name for a reason I also love [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], but they may not be quite as versatile as [name_u]Louise[/name_u] as middles.
I love the fact that not only does it go with practically everything, but it can be shorted to [name_u]Lou[/name_u] to create a super cute nickname e.g. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] -> [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u].
I have really been in love with [name_u]Louise[/name_u] lately. The name is perfectly lovely and such a classic, and, you’re right, it does seem to go with just about everything! Currently, I have on my long list [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_u]Louise[/name_u], [name_f]Gianetta[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u], and [name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_u]Antonia[/name_u].
It does go with every name for some reason. I prefer [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]! I know little [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and it’s so cute as a first name too.
I read that the reason “[name_u]Marie[/name_u]” is such a popular middle name in the US, is because most all of the popular first names don’t place emphasis on the last syllable like [name_u]Marie[/name_u] does, and therefore creates a nice rhythm (ex: [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] versus [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]). I have always thought [name_u]Louise[/name_u] (or, [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]) is a great middle for so many names— that might be why!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] like what @rosajune said! The emphasis on the second syllable makes all the difference! The same goes for [name_f]Renee[/name_f], another popular mn, as well as names ending in -elle ([name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Roselle[/name_f], Arianelle, [name_f]Brielle[/name_f] etc.) and -ette ([name_f]Rosette[/name_f], [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Cosette[/name_f], [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f] etc.) Other examples are [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]!
As for [name_u]Louise[/name_u], I think it’s lovely! I prefer [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] as a fn!
Louise is simple, sweet and strong. It’s classic and timeless. It can ground a more unique name and it meshes stylistically with more classic names. As you say it’s versatile
You’re right it does seem to go with everything and that’s the main reason why I don’t like it when I was at school I think there were only two girls in my class in primary that didn’t have [name_u]Louise[/name_u] as their middle names
These are some of the girls that had [name_u]Louise[/name_u] as their mn:
[name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Rachel[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]
[name_f]Robyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Rebekah[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Stephanie[/name_f]
[name_f]Heather[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f]
I love [name_u]Louise[/name_u] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. i think I have cycled [name_u]Louise[/name_u] as a mn for nearly all of my fn options. I don’t think I could use it as a first name only because I named my cat [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and that might be a bit awkward
