I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is fine on its own, however with the middles you want [name_f]Theadora[/name_f] sounds the best. Xx

I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is perfect on its own, and is actually in my top 10! I do like [name_f]Theadora[/name_f] too but definitely prefer [name_f]Thea[/name_f] on its own.

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] works fine as a full name, so I think it depends on what you want from the name.
If you want her to have more nickname options, then [name_f]Theadora[/name_f] or Xanthea might give you those. If you love [name_f]Theadora[/name_f] or Xanthea, then this might give you the opportunity to get two names for the price of one.
But if you don’t really love [name_f]Theadora[/name_f] or Xanthea, and main worry is that [name_f]Thea[/name_f] isn’t formal enough, then rest easy - [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is a perfectly legitimate formal name in its own right.

I do think that [name_f]Theadora[/name_f] or Xanthea flows better with the middle names, though I’d personally use the spelling [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] to avoid misspellings or confusion. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] still works fine as a nn with that spelling, in my opinion. But if you love [name_f]Thea[/name_f], I wouldn’t let the flow bother you too much - [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] still flows well.

In terms of style,[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] seems like the most classic/vintage name (though all three have been around for a long time), Xanthea the most elaborate/frilly, and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] the most streamlined/modern. If you like [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] (I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] still works as a nn), that would seem the most edgy (the extra a makes Xanthea feel quite different, to me).

If your son [name_u]Max[/name_u] can just be [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_f]Thea[/name_f] can just be [name_f]Thea[/name_f].

Funny you should mention that kmdharrington. We actually regretted not being brave enough to name [name_u]Max[/name_u] ‘[name_m]Maximus[/name_m]’! I love short names that are straight to the point so always knew he’d be [name_u]Max[/name_u] to is but I wish we’d put [name_m]Maximus[/name_m] as his full name.

The logic failed us second time around because we were going to call [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Josh[/name_m]’ to keep with the short, one syllable, simple name theme but decided to use [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] because of how we felt about [name_m]Maximus[/name_m]. Funnily enough I call him [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] 90% of the time!!

With [name_f]Thea[/name_f], I love [name_f]Thea[/name_f] on its own and that’s what I would call her. We’ve only looked at the longer versions because we just don’t want the same name regret that we had with [name_u]Max[/name_u] / [name_m]Maximus[/name_m]. It was never a really big deal but if we could make the decision again he’d definitely be [name_m]Maximus[/name_m]. I just don’t know whether I feel that way about [name_f]Theadora[/name_f] or Xanthea though. It’s so difficult!!!

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] definitely works on its own and if you don’t love Xanthea or [name_f]Theadora[/name_f] as much, I wouldn’t use them. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is beautiful, btw.

I love [name_f]Thea[/name_f]! Gorgeous on it’s own.

As much as I love [name_f]Theadora[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is a terrific name on it’s own and I think it suits your family perfectly!

Thank you very much everyone! Think the decision has been made!!!
