Thea?

What do you think of [name_f]Thea[/name_f] - pronounced Thee-a?

It’s a name I liked after reading a [name_f]Thea[/name_f] Astley (acclaimed Australian author) novel years ago but it’s been growing on me a lot lately.

My style is old fashioned, literary and a bit quirky with an English vibe. Does it fit with this do you think?

I don’t know much about the name, it’s usage/popularity etc. I know it’s Greek and means goddess/godly which is nice.

Would love some opinions - good or bad - thanks!

[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] definitely work!

It’s pleasant, but not as much my thing as the similar [name_f]Theodora[/name_f].

However [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is gentle and vintage while still fitting in well on the playground with [name_f]Mia[/name_f] and [name_f]Leah[/name_f], so I can’t bust on it.

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] is one of my favorite names. I think it’s so sweet sounding. Easy to spell and pronounce but not popular.

Thanks for your feedback so far. I like [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] too but I don’t think I could get it past my DH.

It does sound nice with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] doesn’t it? They share that Th sound and are both Greek in origin.

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] is so sweet and light and I usually go for clunkier names but it has grown on me so much lately.

Another big grower is [name_f]Clara[/name_f] - what do you think??

I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_f]Thea[/name_f] (I think it will be my second daughters name if I have a girl next time around)…

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] is a wonderful name, but these variations might suit [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] better:

[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Clarice[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and Clarimonde
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Clarinda[/name_f]

This name is just ok for me. I can picture little kids with lisps or speech problems suffering at the hands of this name. Also, you might get some creative minds out there pronouncing it “[name_u]Tay[/name_u]-uh”.

I really love it. We have a friend named [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] who goes by [name_u]Theo[/name_u]-so cute!

I like it but I prefer it as a nn for [name_f]Xanthia[/name_f].

It is a lovely name.

I love [name_f]Thea[/name_f]!

Thanks everyone! It’s great having some feedback - I just mentioned it to a friend of mine and she had never heard it before.

I’m not keen on the other “[name_f]Claire[/name_f]” names unfortunately and dislike [name_f]Xanthia[/name_f].

The name also needs to work with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and I think [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_f]Thea[/name_f] has a nice ring to it (though I can see myself accidentally calling both of them Agathea!) Not sure [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] works quite as well?

I prefer the [name_m]Thay[/name_m]-a pronunciation. I do love it just not [name_f]Theodora[/name_f].

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] is nice! But I prefer the pronunciation [name_u]Tay[/name_u]-a, maybe because I know a girl with that name, but don’t know anyone with the name Thee-a. But people are always mispronouncing [name_f]Thea[/name_f] ([name_u]Tay[/name_u]-a)'s name, instead calling her Thee-a.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] it!!!

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] is so adorable! It is my sister’s name [short for [name_f]Theadora[/name_f]] and manages to blend in and stand out all at the same time.

Oh how lovely whirligig! It’s so nice to “know” someone with that name who enjoys having it.

I’m not so keen on the pronunciation [name_u]Tay[/name_u]-a, although I suppose it is inevitable that some people will say it that way.
