name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] sounds handsome to me, but is it weird if he goes by [name_u]Theo[/name_u]? Would [name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] be a problem? I wouldn’t ever say his nickname with his middle name personally. I thought about using [name_u]August[/name_u] as a middle name, but would rather save it as a first name if [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] doesn’t fit.
I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] flows quite well or maybe [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]
Personally, I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] does flow nicely but [name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] would irk me, but that’s just me haha
Is there a specific date in [name_u]August[/name_u] that is important to you? Because there are names associated to certain days throughout [name_u]August[/name_u]
Personally, I wouldn’t do it. Our pups name is [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m] “[name_m]Leo[/name_m]” and we have a close friend who has a dog named [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. We went to the dog park with him the other day and the dogs struggled to differentiate between us calling “[name_u]Theo[/name_u]” & “[name_m]Leo[/name_m]” and kept coming to both.
I understand that you say you wouldn’t call him [name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] but they are just too similar for me. Before I read your post I was thinking what about [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u]? I think that sounds amazing!
What about these names that mean “lion” too…
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Leander[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u]
I found this blog too maybe it will help: August Names - British Baby Names
There are plenty of names that mean “lion” that don’t rhyme with [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and wouldn’t sound like a character’s name.

I think it’s rare for someone to be called by their nickname and middle name in the same breath. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] sounds very nice and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is likely the only name you would use when telling someone his middle name or calling him by it. So I’d use it and not worry about [name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
My thoughts exactly.
I have never heard anyone called their nickname and middle name together. I suppose someone could think it an enjoyable rhyme and decide to, but really the chance is slight and if your son didn’t like it he could just say. So I think go for it, it’s such a handsome name.
[name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is weird, but as it’s unlikely both names will be spoken together (especially as the nickname then middle rather than full name), it doesn’t really matter.
If you love it, use it. Personally though, I prefer the sound and flow of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u].
I know that he won’t be called [name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m], but it still irks me.
I have 3 kids, and I am the only one who ever calls them by their first, and middle name. Like most moms only when I want them to know I’m serious lol. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is a very nice name. I wouldn’t let it bother you. I do like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] too. Either way you can’t go wrong. They’re both very handsome names.
Thank you all for your responses! I wanted to know the public opinion if [name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] would ever even come up! My significant other and I decided to call him [name_u]Theo[/name_u], but SO really loves Ted too so he could even decide if he wanted to be Ted, [name_u]Theo[/name_u] or even just [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] as he got older.
I love that [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is the actually zodiac sign of [name_u]August[/name_u] which is around the time my SO and I met which is why it’s important to us. We do love [name_u]August[/name_u] a lot as a first name contender, so I wouldn’t want to use as a middle name although I do agree it sounds great together. Lastly, my SO grandfather’s name was [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] so that could be another middle name spot or even first name spot.
I’d probably opt for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] instead since it’s a family name AND has [name_m]Leo[/name_m] in it to represent the month.
