Theodora?

My latest name love is [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]! I love everything about it’s clunky, vintage feel. Trouble is, my son’s middle name is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
Would it be too daggy to have siblings with the middle names [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]? I feel like it would be, but I don’t want to give up the name!

Hm… I feel like 98% of the time people would have no idea of your son’s middle name. But I think personally it would bother me because I know! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know what I mean?

I don’t think you’re looking for suggestions, but I think [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] could be a great replacement for [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]

I don’t think it’s really a problem, most people won’t even know your son’s mn. If you love it I would say go for it.

I dont think it matters
Have you considered [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] and Theodoula/Theodula ?

I would not do it, but why no? I’d be less bothered if [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] were used as a first name actually.

I don’t think I’d do it, but I’d be happy using very similar MNs and FNs for siblings - e.g. [name_f]Mariam[/name_f] and [name_f]Mariana[/name_f]. It doesn’t really matter tbh - I think it’d be a cute sibling link, and also I know twin girls whose names are the middle names of one of their elder sisters. So, [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maria[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] has younger sisters named [name_f]Maria[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u]. Apparently their parents just forgot.

My dad and his sister are named [name_m]Nikos[/name_m] and [name_u]Nikki[/name_u] and they never had a problem with it, let alone in your case in which [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is in the middle. It wouldnt be my top choice if you had already use it, but if its the only name you love, then i say go for it.

I love [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]! But your son’s middle being [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] would definitely rule it out for me, sorry.

[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] is a gorgeous name! I don’t think it’s a problem for siblings to have similar middles at all. Not that many people will know either of their middle names, let alone both. I would consider what you would do if you had a third child though- would they also have the mn [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]/[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]? I’d find it more odd if the first two had similar middles and a third didn’t, though if there were say five kids and two had similar middles it wouldn’t seem as weird to me. Does that make any sense?!

I wouldn’t do it. I think it takes the sparkle out of the first combination and turns [name_m]Theodor[/name_m]/a into something played out.

It’s about your son and daughter, not about how others would feel. [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] was given to your son. My brother’s middle name is [name_m]Charles[/name_m], neither of us would of appreciated my middle name being a feminine form of [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. Your daughter should have her own separate, special name.

I love [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]! I wouldn’t worry about the middles

Thanks everyone. As my son is often called by his full name, it probably wouldn’t be a good idea! I’ll have to cross my fingers that I get a niece called [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] instead

[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] is a lovely name, but I wouldn’t do it.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] as a substitute?

I would go ahead and use [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]. As long as your son is not known as [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or [name_u]Theo[/name_u], it doesn’t matter much. It’s actually a cute sibling connection.

No unfortunately :frowning:

That’s a shame.
Still, there are plenty of lovely names. I’m sure you’ll find the perfect one.

It would be a neat link, but what would you do if you had other children? I think it would be better as a first name.

I personally wouldn’t do it myself. I know it would bother me. On the bright side very few people would know their middle names and yet it would be a sweet connection between siblings. Have you considered [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]? It’s just the reverse and has the same feel to me.
