I like it! It’s unusual, but its similarity to names like [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_f]Leona[/name_f] stops it seeming too ‘out-there’. I will admit that [name_f]Theona[/name_f] strikes me as very stylistically different to Li@m, [name_u]Georgi[/name_u]@, and [name_m]Eli[/name_m]@s, which are all on-trend, popular choices, but I don’t think that should ultimately stop you from using a name you love.
I like it! But it seems very different from the names of your other kids. Also, I’d be surprised to meet a [name_f]Theona[/name_f] who wasn’t Greek (as a Greek woman myself).
I would be afraid that it gets confused with - or perceived as a variation of - [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. Or are you going to pronounce it with “T-”?
As pp have said, a little different to your kids names, though I think it’s a bit like [name_f]El[/name_f]!@s in style too. [name_f]Theona[/name_f] is quite nice!
I’ve always loved this name, being obsessed with the names [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] my whole life. Unfortunately, my husband is not into either. So I’d love to hear it used on another little girl!
That’s exactly why we were drawn to it, I love [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and dh loves [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Theona[/name_f] appeals to us both And I can still use [name_f]Thea[/name_f] as a nickname, which I adore
I love [name_f]Theona[/name_f]!!! Gorgeous. It feels familiar and yet I’ve never heard of it. It’s reminiscent of [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], and [name_f]Leona[/name_f], which makes it perfectly usable. I think [name_f]Theona[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is marvelous!
I’ve never heard of the name before so for me it comes across as an alternative spelling of [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. If you both love it though, go for it! Seeing as you love [name_f]Thea[/name_f] so much, I wonder if you’d consider using it as a nickname for [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], [name_f]Theresa[/name_f], [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Althea[/name_f], [name_f]Diantha[/name_f] or [name_f]Talitha[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Theona[/name_f], but I’m a bit biased as I know the most gorgeous woman named this. There was a [name_f]Theona[/name_f] in the Aeneid, so it’s got some cultural/literary cred for sure. It’s offbeat but simple, and I like it a lot for you.
Have you also considered [name_f]Theda[/name_f]? It’s a similar but less obscure name with a beautiful meaning.
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Althea[/name_f], and [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] were all on my list at one point along with [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and [name_f]Anthea[/name_f]. Dh said no to all I appreciate the suggestions though!
My dh would say it’s [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] with a th but he feels like more common names with similar sounds are always going to be what people hear. I kinda think in many cases it’s hit or miss and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] isn’t THAT popular … I prefer this
My first thought was that [name_f]Theona[/name_f] sounds like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] with a lisp, especially since Fs are a sound many people with a lisp can’t pronounce (I think?). I think it’s still usable though, just that she might have to correct people from time to time that it isn’t [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].
[name_f]Theona[/name_f] is a great compromise between [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] - how awesome that you guys were able to find a name with elements of both the names you love, that you’re both keen on, and that gets to a nickname you love! You could also consider [name_f]Flora[/name_f], or [name_f]Fiorella[/name_f] nn [name_f]Fia[/name_f] which sounds similar to [name_f]Thea[/name_f].
[name_f]Theona[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is so jazzy and cool. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
[name_f]Theona[/name_f] is new to me, but I absolutely love it! Unusual but not too out there.
Is it pronounced TH or T?
I know a Teona (tee OH nah)
