I’m 99% sure I’ll be naming my daughter Saoirse Keva, pronounced Sair-sha Kev-a. Just would like to hear any thoughts or impressions of the name? Please no rude or intentionally negative comments. I’ve seen some posts on other threads that are rude and unnecessary. There’s nothing wrong with constructive criticism but please keep it classy. Thank you.
I don’t like how both names end with an ‘a’ sound, it is redundant
My only 'concern; is that both names are unusual and prone to be mispronounced. [name_u]Love[/name_u] them both and love meaning of [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f].
That has also crossed my mind. Thanks
If you live in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], I say definitely go for it- they sound great together. Maybe it works in other countries too, I don’t know.
If you live in the U.S., I’d personally say no way. I’m a name person myself (obviously, haha), and I had to rely on sounding out the names, and ended up mispronouncing both because they can’t be sounded out in American English. I read s-ow-ear-say kee-vuh and I think most other Americans would too.
You could consider coming up with an American spelling that still makes the same sounds as the original names? That’s something I would totally do, but I know some people are weird about that.
This combo would work great in the UK, so if you’re from here I think it’s great. If not, I’d probably avoid it because of mispronunciation issues that are bound to butcher the beautiful name.
I have to agree with a PP - [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f], while a really pretty name, doesn’t work in the US. I’m not really sure why you’d go with the traditional spelling of one Irish name and not the other, either. Why not use the more difficult spelling ([name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f]) in the middle since it won’t be used as often?
Other than that, I think the names are nice together.
