so hubby and i had a long list of names and couldn’t agree, then yesterday we stumbled accross a brand new name, [name]Elodie[/name], it meets all our criteria and we both like it.
But middle names and opinions are needed, what do you think name berries?
[name]Elodie[/name] is lovely! I like it in full and I love the nns [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Lola[/name].
I was always partial to [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Jane[/name], but it might be a bit plain for some. I think [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] is lovely, too.
So glad you have found one you both like [name]Elodie[/name] is a very pretty name. Here are some middle name suggestions of a few different styles:
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Tate[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Maren[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Rowen[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Holland[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Wynn[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Johanna[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Cerise[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]
I actually prefer [name]Melody[/name] myself. I don’t really think [name]Melody[/name] is dated, therfore I don’t think [name]Elodie[/name] sounds dated. I do think it feels a little incomplete though. I think it appeals to a lot of people because it has the potential for the nickname [name]Elle[/name]. But it also has potential for [name]Odie[/name]. So be aware of that.
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Ariana[/name] is pretty.
[name]Elodie[/name] is a beautiful name (wish my husband liked it!). I think that a one-syllable middle name like [name]Jane[/name] would sound best with it.
I’m with amyb2 and beccalm – a one-syllable middle name, I think, sounds nice with melodic, three-syllable [name]Elodie[/name]. For some reason my first instinct is J names. [name]How[/name] about…
This opens up a further nickname possibility, if you want one, that is less girly than [name]Elle[/name] or [name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Dee[/name] or [name]Dede[/name] or [name]Lola[/name] (all of which are super cute, but may not be your cup of tea) – E.J.
Also pretty, [name]IMO[/name]:
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (That’s the third vote for that one!)
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Anne[/name] ([name]Ann[/name])
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
Good luck, and congrats on finding such a lovely name. I’ve never heard it myself, and I think it’s just great.
Hubby agrees with the monosyllable middle name, he like [name]Grace[/name], my middle name and [name]Jane[/name], I think I am suddenly struck with [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Marigold[/name] Whitfield.
Maybe we will compromise and have two middles, some of the nicknames odie and [name]Lola[/name], I hadn’t even thought of and [name]LOVE[/name], I liked the name [name]Odette[/name] nickname [name]Odie[/name] but hubby didn’t, and I liked the name [name]Lola[/name] on its on but hubby didnt so I am like YESSSSSSS!!!
and I relised anyone saying they didn’t like the name I didn’t care, I kinda half skipped the comments because I like it so MUCH.
Before I fell pregnant, (which was unplanned)I had a dream a few months before where a little girl came to me and told me she didn’t like the boring names we had chosen and she wanted a French diva name…so I have leant strongly to French names the whole pregnancy. Sounds weird I know, even though it was a dream it really affected me.
Good luck!
I’m sure you’ll find a lovely name to your beautiful baby! BTW the story of the dream is awesome, I’m happy you’ve a nice story behind her name, it’s seems that your little [name]Elodie[/name] have choosen her own name!
I think [name]Elodie[/name] is nms but it’s growing on me, I think it would sound nice with [name]Marie[/name] or [name]Eve[/name] (which probably sounds strange to some but I like it) depending on your last name.
Semi-OT Question about [name]Elodie[/name]: is there an english prn that is different from the French one? I used to defend the French prn and say it sounded somewhat differently from [name]Melody[/name] but now Im wondering if there a new acceptable way to say it as it grows in popularity here? Similar to [name]Genevieve[/name] prn “jenna veev” which I think is perfectly fine and very pretty. Sorry to ramble, Im just confused about this name now!
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Marigold[/name] is soo pretty, but might not be everyone’s cup of tea:) [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], and [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is beautiful!
I am very bad at both explaining and understanding phonetic prn’s which is why I use forvo.com but I’m used to the French prn so I’m still not sure how that woukd sound. That being said I think something like elodie [name]Jane[/name] maybe simpler than [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Marigold[/name] Whitfield but its also less flighty sounding. You have a nice last name so I would choose elegance and grace over lots of fanciful names that read like a list you couldn’t decide from. Maybe 2 monosyllabic middles or just one 3-4 syllable?
