Thinking about Juno as a sister to August

We have a son named [name_u]August[/name_u], and now we’re thinking about naming a daughter [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. My brother’s first response when I told him this was, “I think you guys love naming babies after summer months.” Well, maybe subconsciously, but it’s not deliberate. We think of a girl named [name_f]Juno[/name_f] as spunky and spirited, and the nn Junebug is cute. We like that it seems easy to say and spell. These are not reasons for choosing the name, but we do like the movie, and we think it’s cool that [name_f]Juno[/name_f] is the queen of the gods, protector of women and marriage (not so cool that she was vengeful at times and married her brother [name_m]Jupiter[/name_m], but I think we can live with that). What seems harder to live with is the month reference. We never intended to have two kids with month references. For us, it’s more about the sound and the feelings the names evoke.

Our other choices are not as out there, but just haven’t seemed like The One in the way that [name_u]August[/name_u] was a clear #1 from the beginning. Our other favorites have been [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_u]Sky/name_u, and [name_f]Marlo[/name_f].

What do you Berries think?

I’m also wondering if any of you have actually named a daughter [name_f]Juno[/name_f], and if so, what has the feedback been? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you still love the name or have you had second thoughts? Why did you choose it? Would you do it again?

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t have a DD named [name_f]Juno[/name_f] but I think it’s adorable as a sibling name to [name_u]August[/name_u]

I think that [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_u]June[/name_u] would be weird, but I really like [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. It’s a cute pair and I feel like the names are connected in a way but also their own. I think [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] is awesome. Go for it!

I agree with kendelbell. I think [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] sound great together.

I do think you or your children will get the “summer month” question here and there. But that’s neutral to me and not a reason to throw out the beautiful name [name_f]Juno[/name_f].

Imaginary dialogue:
-“Oh, did your parents name you guys after the summer months?”
-“Nope, coincidence.”
-“Oh, ok.”

And that should be it.
Another question to ask yourself though is, would you want more children after that? If so, would YOU feel stuck in a summer month theme? Can you imagine having children named [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]? Or [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]? If your answer is yes, then I would encourage you even more to use [name_f]Juno[/name_f].

Thank you, berries!
To answer @vc2013, nope, no more children after this one unless we foster-adopt, in which case the kid(s) would probably come to us already named. And I wouldn’t feel stuck with a month theme anyway. Loved your imaginary dialogue!

I love the names [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f]! I don’t think it would be a problem to have [name_f]Juno[/name_f] be [name_u]August[/name_u]'s sister.

[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] sound like a really good pair together.

[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] sound so strong and fierce together! Like two partners in crime. I would never have noticed the month connection had you not pointed it out!

I’m not a big fan of the name [name_f]Juno[/name_f] because I immediately associate it with the movie and thus teen pregnancy. I personally am not a huge fan of [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] together because of the month association. I like the other names on your list though!
