Thank you all for the feedback in my other threads. It was so helpful, and I think we’ve finally decided on our girl name - [name]Frances[/name]! We love the sound, the way it looks, and the fact that the clunkiness balances the sibset. And as I’ve mentioned, [name]Hugo[/name] is our top choice if we have a boy. So our first names are all set - on to middle names!
I’m really not sure what route to take for [name]Frances[/name]’ middle name.
We could use one of the names from our “first name list”. We already have three girls, and even if we were to go on to have 6 kids (which would be the absolute max), what are the odds that we’d have three more girls? [Yes, I realize the odds are always 50-50, but it would be strange to have 6 girls.] I worry that if we “save” names for the next one, we’ll never get to use them. So maybe we should go with something like [name]Frances[/name] [name]Maude[/name], [name]Frances[/name] [name]Olive[/name], [name]Frances[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Frances[/name] [name]Hazel[/name], etc.
We could use a name that we like but wouldn’t use as a first name. Like [name]Emmeline[/name], which we considered for a middle name in the past. I’d love combo suggestions for this option.
We could use [name]Madeline[/name], which our daughters are advocating big time. [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] are absolutely obsessed with the [name]Madeline[/name] books ([name]Sybil[/name] likes them, too), and really want a sister named [name]Madeline[/name]. It’s too popular for us and we really don’t like [name]Maddie[/name], but it could make a sweet middle name. Especially because her sisters would have helped name her. [name]How[/name] does [name]Frances[/name] [name]Madeline[/name] sound?
What should we do?
I should add that our girls’ full names are [name]Willa[/name] [name]Isobel[/name], [name]Cora[/name] [name]Clementine[/name], and [name]Sybil[/name] [name]Briony[/name].
As for [name]Hugo[/name], we really don’t know. I suppose we could use one of the names from our long boys list, given that we’d have to name two more, at the absolute most.
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] is a name I’ve been throwing around myself.
[name]Frances[/name] [name]Madeline[/name] would be my pick for you. I love the connection to her sisters that [name]Madeline[/name] will give her. As for a boy name, I’m drawn to [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Homer[/name] (love the alliteration), [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Rupert[/name], or [name]Hugo[/name] [name]George[/name].
Thank you for the response! I love the sound of [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Homer[/name], too.
My husband really pushed for [name]Cora[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] (I wanted [name]Cora[/name] [name]Constance[/name]), but I love it now. I find myself calling [name]Cora[/name] by her full name a lot - and not just when she’s in trouble.
Your girls all have the same syllable pattern for their names, so I think you should continue that trend with baby #4. [name]Frances[/name] [name]Madeline[/name] is a great choice, and for a boy I like [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Frederick[/name] or [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]… Something along those lines with a three syllable middle name.
I’m in with the popular opinion. I think [name]Frances[/name] [name]Madeline[/name] is adorable. It is popular, but that’s not bad. Especially when using it for a mn. I love that your daughters are together in pushing for it, and they would feel so proud.
I’d pair [name]Hugo[/name] with the longest syllable name that you both liked. [name]Frederick[/name] is great. [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Abraham[/name], [name]Gregory[/name], [name]Killian[/name], etc…
Another vote for [name]Frances[/name] [name]Madeline[/name]! Second choice would be [name]Frances[/name] [name]June[/name] or maybe the spunkier [name]Frances[/name] [name]Juniper[/name]!
As for [name]Hugo[/name], I like [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Walter[/name] best. Good luck!
I think [name]Frances[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] is beautiful (and [name]Sybil[/name] [name]Briony[/name] is one of the nicest combos I’ve seen!)
Good luck.
I like [name]Frances[/name] [name]Madeline[/name] the best too as a fit for your sibset. [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Frederick[/name] is my favorite from your boys list. I agree that a little longer mn works better with [name]Hugo[/name]. [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Edmond[/name] was the first combination I thought of outside of your list.
