So I’m thinking about adding [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [vye-OH-lah] to my top ten list, to sit alongside other names like [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Odelia[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], Gwennan, and [name_f]Arianell[/name_f].
Admittedly I don’t love [name_f]Viola[/name_f] pronounced this way (though I know its pretty standard,) but it’s a nice name and has a distinctly southern charm. It seems very fitting on your list.
@waverly123 - I do like [name_f]Viola[/name_f] Gwennan, but I currently have Gwennan on my FN list, and then as a middle for [name_f]Iris[/name_f], so she’s not really an option. I am thinking about [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] though.
@brittanyanitarose - thank you! I do seem to like names with that flowery southern softness to them
@greyblue - [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_u]Damaris[/name_u] has distinct possibilities, I like the way they work together. [name_f]May[/name_f] even grow on me enough to consider as stands, but definitely giving me lots of ideas! [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is very prettily balanced, though she might feel a little too ‘light’, and there’s also something about [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] that I like, though neither of them are right.
@adelina_sophia - I have actually thought about [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Leonor[/name_f], and I like the pale lilac & brave gold imagery I get from them together! I also want to get [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] into some combos as a first. [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] has an attractive strength and pared-down elegance. Also intrigued by [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], but I’m pretty sure I prefer [name_f]Riva[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]. I do objectively think [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is lovely, but the colours feel too similar to me to quite work (lilac / deep purple with purply-blue / deep blue).
[name_f]Viola[/name_f] has such a lovely combination of delicacy and vividness! I would go for a middle name that’s both stately and fiery to complement her.
@kew - I’m already thinking about [name_f]Viola[/name_f] Merewen and [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Aeronwy[/name_f], and [name_f]Ottoline[/name_f] and [name_f]Auriel[/name_f] are very pretty suggestions. Especially [name_f]Ottoline[/name_f] - most of the vowel names feel very light and fairy-ish, but this has real strength and substance to it. I see [name_f]Viola[/name_f] as a mix of deep purple and light, lilacy purple.
Thanks all for the suggestions. Probably need to mull them over now and think about some second middles.
