Thinking About Ziggy

Hello!

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] since I heard [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] I’ve loved it. It was incredibly surprising to me and it’s been always on my mind. I could absolutely picture myself having a son called [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u], as well. But I’m wondering what you all think of it.

  • Could you take [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] seriously on a little boy? [name_u]Or[/name_u] would you think his parents are a little wacky.

  • What middles would you use for [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] (so at a loss).

  • Lastly, if you love [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u], convince me that it is as wonderful as I think it is. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thanks to everyone who comments on my tiny dilemmas!!

I know [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] from big little lies so i can see it on a child & I actually think it also ages quite well.
For [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] I would probably use a more grounding middle name that still has a cool vibe, [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] came to mind.

I really do love [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] alot. He is so spunky and zippy. I do prefer [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] as a nickname tho, mostly for [name_m]Zigmund[/name_m]. I came across Ziglar lately, which is an interesting possibility as well.

I could take it seriously, but I’d probably assume it was a nickname.

This is a little tough. I agree with the pp that the middle should be a little more grounding and serious. But I don’t like to just pair unexpected names up with typical middle names either. So, unusual, but also recognized and stable. Maybe something like [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m]. [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] [name_m]Evander[/name_m]. [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] [name_u]Remington[/name_u].

If [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] has a full name, like [name_m]Zigmund[/name_m], I feel like the middle name could pretty much be any style and level of unusualness.

I just had my third in [name_u]February[/name_u] and had she been a boy we were going to do [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] [name_m]Cole[/name_m]. [name_m]Cole[/name_m] is my moms maiden name but I thought it had a good ring to it. I think it’s totally usable and still my front runner if I have a boy in the future.

I can definitely see [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] on a child, though I would be surprised if it wasn’t a nickname. I think it works just fine as a standalone, I just view it more as a nickname. If I met a child called [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u], I would be perfectly able to take them seriously

  1. Yes, I would be able to take it seriously on all ages! I might think his parents were a little on the hipster side, but that’s not necessarily bad.

  2. 3. I’m terrible at convincing people, but it’s a really cool, great name!

I think I prefer it as a nickname, but I could see it as a stand alone. I’d assume his parents were hipsters.

I definitely can see [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] on both a child and adult. It’s definitely a spunky name, but I personally love those types of names.

Depending on your surname I think either a one syllable or three syllable middle would work best.
Sorry for any repeats…

I have a hard time taking [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] seriously as a legal first name. I think he might get “but what’s your real first name?” As a nickname I think it’s great for pretty much any name with a prominent Z or even Z sound like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] for example! I don’t know about wacky… but I’d just say I’d think his parents do their own thing and don’t care what other people think.

Personally, if I was to consider a nicknamey name I’d grab a list of full names and image it being a graduation and see if you feel like the level of formality feels right with other common names in your area. I’d try to imaging being the graduate and being the parent of the graduate. This may be totally not important to you though!

[name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] is cool - gives me beachy, bohemian vibes which I love. I like the suggestion [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]. I also never heard of [name_m]Zigmund[/name_m] which sounds a little more well-rounded!
