My husband and I are talking about starting a family. We could NOT be more excited. We have all ready started talking about names for our kids, just to see if we are or are not somewhere on the same page.
Because it was too perfect to pass up, with a name that honours both sides of our family, we have chosen [name]John[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] for our son. We love it, it’s classic, and yes it may be popular, but so perfect.
For a daughter, we’re torn. We want to be unique without sounding like a name that is made up. We also want to try to honour some family, but not necessarily naming her after someone. So I’ve turned to you, Nameberry!!! First and middle name suggestions would be great!
Here are our thoughts:
We’d like a name that honours one or both of our heritages: He’s mostly Swedish, some Welsh, I’m 100% Irish
We met through uni in a music group. Names that mean something to do with music or have to do with music would be great ([name]Aria[/name] is all ready a big no for us)
We both love nature, so nature names, especially tree names, are a plus.
Some family names that may be incorporated: [name]Anne[/name] as a middle name, [name]Dana[/name], [name]Jean[/name], Driscoll
It does not have to have all of the above! [name]Just[/name] one would be nice, but multiple would be really nice!
It also, obviously, HAS to go with our last name, [name]Cully[/name]. Can’t be too “rhymey.”
We’ve also got a long road ahead of us, so we know that we might change our mind. But I’m a planner!!!
[name]Viola[/name] [name]Robinia[/name] [name]Cully[/name] - [name]Viola[/name] [name]Cully[/name] -the robinia is a gorgeous lime green weeping tree with small white flowers and viola is of course a musical instrument
Two off the top of my head are:
[name]Serena[/name]: one of my favorites! It’s classic and pretty but uncommon.
[name]Acacia[/name]: Different, nature related, pretty. I know someone with a daughter named [name]Cacia[/name] (basically a shortened version) so that could be a nn.
(tree)
[name]Acacia[/name]
[name]Plum[/name]
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Cassia[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name]
[name]Mimosa[/name]
[name]Cedar[/name]
Alona
[name]Orna[/name]/Ornella
MacDara - Irish - “son of the oak”
[name]Linnea[/name] - Swedish - “lime tree”
(variants of family names)
[name]Annabel[/name], [name]Annabella[/name] (nn [name]Bell[/name] - music name)
[name]Anneliese[/name] - Swedish
[name]Hannelore[/name], [name]Hanna[/name]
[name]Anya[/name]
[name]Daniela[/name]
Aldana
[name]Jordana[/name]
[name]Joan[/name]
[name]Jane[/name]
[name]June[/name]
[name]Jeanette[/name]
[name]Jenna[/name]
Drisanna
[name]Edris[/name]
Micol
If I was to pick a combo, I’d go for [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] nn [name]Elin[/name]. That way you get Swedish/nature in [name]Linnea[/name]/[name]Elin[/name], musical bell in [name]Annabel[/name] and the Irish [name]Maeve[/name], all in one!

[name]LOVE[/name] the ethnic names thus far…I’m losing it a bit on the musical and tree part. Lots of the musical words just sound to me like they aren’t really names but words made in to names…I suppose that’s just me though.
Names I’ve loved suggested thus far:
[name]Maeve[/name] (this is also a family name!)
[name]Linnea[/name]
[name]Maren[/name]
[name]Viola[/name]
[name]Robinia[/name] is beautiful, but my husband’s name is [name]Robert[/name], so it just comes of to me as more masculine because of this.
I love [name]Maeve[/name], it’s one of my favourite girls names! [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Robinia[/name] [name]Cully[/name] sounds beautiful.
[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Seren[/name]? It’s a Welsh name meaning ‘[name]Star[/name]’ which I love, and [name]Seren[/name] [name]Cully[/name] sounds nice - maybe [name]Seren[/name] [name]Viola[/name] [name]Cully[/name] or [name]Seren[/name] [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Cully[/name]?
You are on track with the robinia and robert connection as [name]Robin[/name] is a variant of [name]Robert[/name] but I consider [name]Robin[/name]/[name]Robyn[/name] to be a girl’s name and it would be a nice way to honour Dad.
I adore [name]Linnea[/name] and it sounds so nice with your last name. [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] C. is wonderful - love the Swedish and nature tie in name one, the Irish and family tie in with name2, and the 3-1-2 rhythm is so nice. Good luck whatever you decide!
