Thinking of Rainbow

A long time back, one of the names I adored was [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]. I was in my herb/nature name phase, and it just kind of came naturally. (I did prefer [name_u]Rain[/name_u], though.)

I recently started watching [name_m]Black[/name_m]-ish, and one of the main characters is named [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]. It’s stated multiple times that she has trouble with it in the real world, so I’m not really considering it for a first name.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]?

It makes me think of the author [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] Rowell, but it’s still a brave choice. It is pretty, though!

I think it works better as a middle name.

I cannot see anybody taking a child named [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] seriously. I also cannot see [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] herself liking her name. I like it as a middle name, though. Some suggestions are:
[name_f]Lillia[/name_f] [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]
Beatice/Beatrix [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] (though that feels like [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] because [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is the Greek and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] goddess of rainbows)
On that note, maybe consider [name_f]Iris[/name_f]?

Middle name not first name.

I like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] which means [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]. But there are a ton of nature names that seem to be popular at the moment so why not.

I like it as a middle name, i think for a first name it’s a bit “to much”.

As a middle, i think it would be cool - bright and unexpected. As a first, i dont think it would be easy to wear

I generally like word names, but [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] seems more hippy/flower girl than my usual favorites. It can work as a first name, I think, in a [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] Rowell fashion, but I prefer it as a middle name. Something like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] would be very pretty.

Better as a middle name.

I like it as a middle name. I think it’d be cute for a rainbow baby to have the middle name [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] (not that I’m wishing miscarriage on anyone, obviously).

It seems a little too out there for me to be usable but then again, there is the actor [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Sun[/name_f] Francks (he was in Stargate [name_u]Atlantis[/name_u] and I always took notice of his name in the credits!) and there is [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] Rowell, like @almostactually mentioned. These two connections definitely make it seem like a more solid name even though my knee jerk reaction was different.

I like it as a first name believe it or not :cold_sweat: but that’s because I tend to go for “names I like” not names “that work”, it reminds me of names like [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] and [name_f]Crescent[/name_f]! It’s hippyish (which was what [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]’s parents were) but I think if you prefer [name_u]Rain[/name_u] over [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f], their nn could be [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]! I like the idea of it being a middle name, I also think it’s incorporated more than we think as I know [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] babies are often named after the thing they are which is adorable and makes my heart swell

Maybe a middle? It does sound pretty wordy, but I do love the meaning.

Rainbows have a lot of meaning nowadays…

When someone has a miscarriage or stillborn, they call their next child a “rainbow baby.” I would honestly assume that’s what the situation would be if I met a baby named [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f].

Rainbow colors are also used in the LGBTQ+ flag. [name_f]My[/name_f] second assumption, for a baby named [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f], would be that she is from an LGBTQ+ family.

Nothing is wrong with either of these situations… But I feel like this invites people to ask questions that are none of their business

Maybe as a middle name. Would you like [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]?

Also makes me think of the author [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] Rowell.

I love it as a middle name! I also love [name_u]Rain[/name_u], [name_f]Raina[/name_f], or [name_f]Rainee[/name_f] as first names.

I’d say middle only.

I think it’s lovely. I have no trouble seeing it working as a first name as I know 2 girls under 10 that are called [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f].
