I’m new here and need help! I am due in under three weeks with what we think is another baby boy (ultrasound couldn’t confirm so we left it as a surprise). Anyway, I have two boys already, [name]Leo[/name] [name]Xavier[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] [name]Jude[/name]. I love both of their names so much but nothing is feeling right for this one if its a boy. Our girl names are [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Pearl[/name].
Names I have pondered for this one are:
[name]Edward[/name]/[name]Edmund[/name]- feels a bit stuffy for my taste though
[name]Rupert[/name]- bit old mannish?
[name]George[/name]- Dh not sold
[name]James[/name]- bit too popular?
[name]Oliver[/name]- my absolute fav but number one in Australia at the moment (where we live).
[name]Orlando[/name]- Dh likes but I’m not sure it fits with the other boys names
Possible mn are [name]Luke[/name]/[name]Lucas[/name], [name]Noel[/name] ([name]Christmas[/name] baby) and [name]Sonny[/name]
If this is our third little guy, I wanted to name him something not top 10 or 20 so a lot of the names I like are out because of this ([name]William[/name], [name]Oliver[/name] etc.)
So any suggestions? I am kicking myself for already using [name]Jude[/name] for [name]Henry[/name]'s middle name!!!
Some possible suggestions:
[name]Benjamin[/name] (A personal favorite of mine for 10+ years, but I can’t bring myself to use it based on its popularity. I think [name]Ben[/name], [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] would be precious, though!)
[name]Finn[/name]/[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name]
[name]Julian[/name]
I love [name]Oliver[/name], but I can understand your reluctance.
From the names you are considering, I really love Edmund (especially) and Edward. They are not too stuffy at all, imo. I also like both Oliver AND Orlando. However, I have to say that Orlando does seem out of place with Leo and Henry. That said, in my extended family, the name Orlando was used in an immigrant Norwegian family in the 1870s and German/Norwegian family as a middle name (coincidentally, “Henry Orlando”) in the early 1900s.
I think Edmund is totally IDEAL for your sibset. I also like:
[name]Edward[/name]/[name]Edmund[/name]- I think [name]Edward[/name] is very classical and strong. [name]Edmund[/name] is the more stuffy of the two so I can see your point there, but it’s still a lovely name. Perhaps [name]Edwin[/name], [name]Frederick[/name]/[name]Edric[/name]/[name]Cedric[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Everett[/name] or [name]Edison[/name]?
[name]Rupert[/name]- I agree that [name]Rupert[/name] is old-mannish, but I think of [name]Rupert[/name] [name]Giles[/name] (the librarian in the cult classic [name]Buffy[/name]) who takes old man to a whole new level of awesome. Perhaps [name]Roger[/name], [name]Albert[/name], [name]Gilbert[/name], [name]Rudolf[/name], [name]Ralph[/name], or [name]Rufus[/name]?
[name]George[/name]- A strong classic name, but quite common, and there’s the curious little monkey to contend with. Perhaps [name]Geoffrey[/name], [name]Greg[/name]/[name]Gregor[/name]/[name]Gregory[/name], [name]Gerard[/name], [name]Gordon[/name], or [name]Gerald[/name]?
[name]James[/name]- definitely too popular. Perhaps [name]Jasper[/name], [name]Jameson[/name], [name]Jove[/name], or [name]Justus[/name]?
[name]Oliver[/name]- smashing, but I see what you mean about being too popular where you live. Perhaps [name]Orville[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Orson[/name], [name]Otto[/name], or [name]Vernon[/name]?
[name]Orlando[/name]- I think it could potentially fit with [name]Leo[/name], but not so much with [name]Henry[/name]. Perhaps [name]Owen[/name], [name]Armand[/name], [name]Landon[/name], [name]Alden[/name]/[name]Aldo[/name], or [name]Arlo[/name]?
Other vintage cool suggestions:
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Miles[/name]/[name]Milo[/name]
[name]Theo[/name]/[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Hugo[/name]/[name]Hugh[/name] (maybe as a middle to avoid the similarity to [name]Henry[/name])
[name]Edgar[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Simon[/name]
[name]Evander[/name] nn [name]Evan[/name]
[name]Magnus[/name]
[name]Linus[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Titus[/name]
[name]Anthony[/name]
[name]August[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Eugene[/name]
[name]Walter[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Stanley[/name]
[name]Winston[/name]
[name]Victor[/name]
[name]Fletcher[/name]
[name]Clark[/name]
[name]Seth[/name]
[name]Duncan[/name]
[name]Jonah[/name]
[name]Malcolm[/name]
I have a friend who used her second sons middle name for her third son’s first name…she didn’t think she would be getting any more boys! If you love [name]Jude[/name] as a first name for #3, you should consider using it! It doesn’t bother these brothers at all. In fact, it is kind of a fun story and a special connection for them!
[name]One[/name] of my best friends did the same thing- her 1st son is [name]Robert[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] and 3rd son is [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Kane[/name]. No one really even notices.
[name]Edward[/name]/[name]Edmund[/name] - I love [name]Edmund[/name], [name]Edward[/name] is cute too, [name]Teddy[/name]/[name]Ted[/name] is a cute nickname and sounds good with your sibset.
[name]Rupert[/name] - Too old mannish
[name]George[/name] - I like this a lot. Maybe as a middle name?
[name]James[/name] - Classic but too popular.
[name]Oliver[/name] - I adore this name. It fits perfectly with your sibset. I think you should use it even if it is popular!
[name]Orlando[/name] - I don’t like this one, I just think that it doesn’t go well with your other names.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Rupert[/name]. It’s on my list too. I don’t think it seems old manniesh. I think of [name]Rupert[/name] Grint… [name]Ronald[/name] Weasley. lol Actually, [name]Ronald[/name] may be a good name for you with nick name [name]Ron[/name] going well with [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Ronald[/name] going well with [name]Henry[/name].
Great names for your boys. What about [name]Jonah[/name] instead of [name]Jude[/name]?
Expecting our second boy, we had to scratch a name that sounded too much like [name]Henry[/name] (my son’s middle)
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Rupert[/name] and it was on my short list. The nn Roo (only when a bubby of course is super cute for a little [name]Ozzie[/name] boy - and I can say that, I’m Australian too)
I don’t think I can add anything that anyone else hasn’t suggested. let us know what you go with. Good luck.
Thanks for the replies everyone! Well we have talked and talked about it and have decided that we may use [name]Jude[/name] after all or we may use [name]Oliver[/name] even if its popular. I really love [name]Oliver[/name] with [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Henry[/name]. I also really love the suggestions of the nickname Roo for [name]Rupert[/name]. So cute! So I think it’s probably going to be [name]Jude[/name], [name]Oliver[/name] or [name]Rupert[/name]. But who knows!! [name]Will[/name] have to meet bubba first and see which name fits Thanks for all of the suggestions!
