Third girl and need help!

We’re expecting our third little girl and I’m looking for a name that goes well with [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name]. I love [name]Carys[/name] but my husband isn’t sold on it. Any suggestions?

i think an m name would go well
maeve
maeva
mae
merida

not keen on carys

Well, both your girls have names that this year are in the bottom half of the top 400, so I think you need to avoid names that are much more popular. You probably wouldn’t want one daughter to have a super popular name. [name]Isla[/name] is Scottish; [name]Juliette[/name] is French, so you probably want to avoid a name that’s overtly French or Scottish, so that no one ends up odd girl out. On the other hand, you might want to use something just a bit exotic, so that your 3rd isn’t the only one with a plain name. And, you need something pretty without being frilly. So, my suggestions:

[name]Sabrina[/name]
[name]Bianca[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name] or [name]Rosamond[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Portia[/name]
[name]Marisol[/name]
[name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Glynis[/name]
[name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Diana[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name]
[name]Gwyneth[/name]
[name]Lilith[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name]
[name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]

Thank you missmolly, I am looking for something less popular and pretty. I love [name]Daphne[/name] but my husband has ruled that one out as well (it was on my list for our first and second!). Out of this list, are there any favorites, or any other suggestions?

[name]Sabrina[/name]
[name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Mara[/name]
[name]Bree[/name]
[name]Bridget[/name]
[name]Carissa[/name]

Out of this list [name]Sabrina[/name] gets my vote.

[name]Delilah[/name] was on my list, but (how could I have missed it?), [name]Delilah[/name]-[name]Isla[/name]–too much rhyme!

I’ll give you my reasons for rejecting the others, but, my, this is hard. I stand by my criteria, but what’s pretty or not is so subjective, isn’t it?

[name]Mara[/name]–First, the 2 syllable ending in a ‘uh’ sound is too close to [name]Isla[/name] for me. Second, it’s just not ‘pretty’, not ‘romantic’ to me the way [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name] are. [name]Maura[/name] and [name]Moira[/name] are a bit closer, but I’m not crazy about either of those either.

[name]Bree[/name]–I love this name standing on it’s own, but I don’t like it as a part of your set. It’s just not substantial enough to me.

[name]Bridget[/name]–one of my all time favorite names, but again, not as part of your set. [name]Bridget[/name], to me, is cute and attractive, but in a solid, practical way–not in the beautiful, rapturous (is that over the top?) way that [name]Juliette[/name] and [name]Isla[/name] are.

[name]Carissa[/name]–don’t care for this at all. It’s too frilly…it goes to the other side of romantic. Too bad your husband doesn’t like [name]Carys[/name], which I think is a good possibility. And personally, I’m just over the -issa names.

Other ideas? Well, I thought about [name]Phoebe[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name], with [name]Phoebe[/name] being my top choice there. But if your husband doesn’t like [name]Daphne[/name], I don’t see him going for [name]Phoebe[/name].

[name]Adelaide[/name]/[name]Adeline[/name]/[name]Adele[/name]? I like all of these, but again, though pretty, they just seem somehow ‘sturdier’ than [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name].

I’d thought of [name]Jessamyn[/name]/[name]Jessamine[/name], but I was trying to avoid repeating initials.

What about [name]Guinevere[/name]? I think it works…and I love the name.

[name]Scarlett[/name] is, I think, another obvious possibility…I’m just not quite into it–I have a love/hate thing about Ms. O’[name]Hara[/name].

[name]Roxanne[/name]? I think, maybe. I think I’d have to hear it with your last name (which I suppose goes for any suggestion).

[name]Cerelia[/name] is pretty, but it’s pretty out there. I thought about [name]Aurelia[/name]. I like the Au beginning, but both it and [name]Cerelia[/name] are straying toward too fussy, to me at least.

Out of these I like [name]Guinevere[/name] and [name]Roxanne[/name]. And give another thought to [name]Coraline[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name]. They were actually my top 2 choices on my original list…[name]One[/name] of the things that I liked was how they gave each girl a distinct ending (-la, -ette, and -line).

And by the way, I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name].

Out of your list, I like [name]Bridget[/name]. Here are a few more suggestions:
[name]Celia[/name]
[name]Cicely[/name]
[name]Ingrid[/name]
[name]Greta[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Brigitte[/name]
[name]Brigita[/name]
[name]Marianne[/name]
[name]Marietta[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Seraphina[/name]
[name]Gwenyth[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]-[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Janelle[/name]
[name]Noelle[/name]
[name]Marie[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Camilla[/name]
[name]Jacqueline[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Lorelei[/name]
[name]Leah[/name]
[name]Marguerite[/name]

I also really liked the suggestion of [name]Bianca[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name].

I like [name]Mara[/name] off that list but then I think that [name]Juliette[/name] would feel a bit left out with the longer name. [name]Carissa[/name] is also lovely and a good alternative to [name]Carys[/name].

Thank you all for the suggestions and opinions. I truly appreciate it. I’m going to try [name]Bianca[/name], [name]Guinevere[/name] and [name]Coralie[/name] with hubby. This time naming seems to be so much more difficult! Any more suggestions are welcome!

[name]How[/name] about [name]Isla[/name], [name]Juliette[/name], and [name]Ariel[/name]?

I really like [name]Bianca[/name] with your set… [name]Isla[/name], [name]Juliette[/name] and [name]Bianca[/name] works well and gives you a nice geographic spread (Scottish, French and Italian).

Other names that spring to mind:
[name]Amelie[/name]/[name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]/[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Maisie[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name]/[name]Ottoline[/name]
[name]Cara[/name]/[name]Ciara[/name]/[name]Chiara[/name]
[name]Grace[/name]/[name]Gracie[/name]
Hieke ([name]Hi[/name]-kee)

I love whirligig’s suggestion of [name]Merida[/name]! I also like the [name]Sabrina[/name] or [name]Bianca[/name]. Good [name]Luck[/name]!

Oh! I have another one for you, and I think I like it a lot! [name]How[/name] about

[name]Isla[/name], [name]Juliette[/name], and [name]Linnea[/name]?

I think someone suggested them already, but I really like [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Adele[/name]! [name]Shame[/name] your husband didn’t like [name]Daphne[/name]. Good luck finding something!

I do like [name]Merida[/name] but all I think of now that I hear it is the Disney movie. Missmolly, [name]Linnea[/name] is a great suggestion. I would have never come across it. This forum is great, thank you all for the suggestions!

Best wishes and Congrats!

You are welcome, Kritty! Keep us updated!

I need opinions on two more names, Kaatje and [name]Tatiana[/name]. I’m still on the hunt!

I don’t care for [name]Kaatje[/name] with this sibset–[name]Isla[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name] are delicate. [name]Kaatje[/name] is a bit…I’m not sure that guttural is the right word, but the sound is heavier than big sisters’ names. [name]Tatiana[/name] is a better match, I don’t care for it personally. It’s a subtle thing, but there’s a tendency to pronounce the name with a ‘y’ which I find unpleasant. [name]Tah[/name]-tee-ah-nuh, I like. Tot-yah-nuh, I don’t.
