We have two daughters, [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. I’m pregnant with our third, and will find out the sex soon but have a gut feeling it’s a baby girl.
Our top two names at the moment:
[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]
[name_f]Marcella[/name_f]
I would love to hear general thoughts on those two names and if you think either goes with our sibset, and would love new suggestions as well! One requirement is the name has to be easily pronounced in Spanish and [name_f]English[/name_f] because we’re a bilingual family.
Clara and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] are both beautiful names.
Between [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] and [name_f]Marcella[/name_f], I personally prefer [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], I think it goes perfectly with your other daughter’s names but also has it’s own sound.
If I may suggest others, I think that these would go beautifully with [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]:
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Amara[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessia[/name_f]
I agree that [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] sounds great with your other daughters since it has the same “e” sound that’s in [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] is a beautiful name too. Either one would be great!
I think [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] has the same beautiful softness as [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] is great, but a little bit harsher than the other two.
Clara, [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], and [name_f]Marcella[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], and [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] in this set because the names all feel tied together. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] means ‘bright’, [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] means ‘light’, and [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] is a feminine form of [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] which traditionally brings to mind angels. So these three just feel angelic as a sister set.
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] – [name_u]Love[/name_u] the ‘grace’ meaning with older sisters’ names, too.
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] – The sound of it fits in so perfectly, I think.
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] – Again, fits the ethereal vibe of older sisters’ names so well.
Gabriella-It’s fine. I don’t love it, but it’s not an unpleasant name. I find it a bit 90s, & the nn [name_u]Gabby[/name_u] is just kind of snobby sounding to me. I like the nns [name_f]Gigi[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
Marcella-Again, I don’t love it, but it’s not awful. It’s far more interesting than [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]. But I don’t like [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] at all. It reminds me of a 80s cheerleader. This is totally just my weird association for no good reason. I don’t see any reason not to use this if you like it.
Congratulations! I think of your two top names, [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] fits best with big sisters. A few suggestions similar to [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] would be [name_f]Mariella[/name_f], Mariselle, or [name_f]Marisol[/name_f]. I had a Spanish professor in college named Mariselle, and I always thought that was such a lovely name!
Of your options, I definitely prefer [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]! I also like the association of an angelic sibset mentioned by a PP. [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] is beautiful too but feels a bit more outdated next to [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. It also means “warlike” which I don’t love.
Out of curiosity - is [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] pronounced like loo-see-ah or loo-chee-ah? Both are stunning, but I want to make sure I’m envisioning this set correctly! I’m guessing like loo-see-ah, seeing as you said you speak Spanish.
Other names I think would fit well with [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]:
[name_f]Alicia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Camila[/name_f]/Camilla
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] (I like it pronounced like [name_f]Ava[/name_f])
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariella[/name_f]
[name_f]Marissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
When I saw [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], I said, “This family is bilingual.” Then I read on. Nice work!
Gabriella is lovely with the sister names. There’s no reason she’d ever have to go by a nickname if you didn’t want one. But, if you did, this name has lots of options:
I think both will sound great with your other girls! I seem to be in the minority here, but my favorite is [name_f]Marcella[/name_f], I think it’s so beautiful!
