Third sister šŸ»

Baby 3 up and coming! We are deliberating on names and I have a very decisive, stubborn husband

Thereā€™s some names Iā€™ve come to love and grow attached to but heā€™s not budging. Iā€™m including only names we both agree on, so as not to waste time on a name I know heā€™ll veto, and because I suppose I should consider his opinion too lol.

We have unusual taste so while these may not be your go-toā€™s, they are names weā€™ve had on our list for all three pregnancies and keep coming back to. We feel they are fitting to our style and family in their own ways.

Please let me know from our list, which is your fav paired with my current two daughters, Leni and Ru.

Frances
If you know, you know lol. A forever fav. I adore Fran and Franny for short (more so than everyoneā€™s popular mention of Frankie). Itā€™s just a timeless, beautiful name. Definitely a more buttoned-up pick compared to our other two daughters, but maybe that kind of ties them all in, in a perfectly imperfect way?

Ezer
Unique! We liked Ezra for a boy and Esme for a girl (but have a few in our fam). Ezer is strong and takes some getting used to, but we think itā€™s spunky and has a lot of character. We appreciate strong names for strong females. Also sounds really good with our last name, Rib@ck.

Coen
Coen! Our own spelling (no H) to keep it short and cohesive with the others. I LOVE that we could call her Coco :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: We are Jewish and feel comfortable using this name. Beyond that, we think itā€™s really cool! A nice, neutral name for a girl. We like Koda for a boy and also like Koa (but wouldnā€™t use so please donā€™t suggest), so this kind of mimics those sounds.

Hit me with your votes, please!

I think the choice depends on which overall vibe you want to convey from your sibset and how you best see them being cohesive! [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and Ru on their own are already very cohesive and share several different styles. Your choices both on your daughters already and for a future little one are gorgeous!

To me, your choice for a third better defines a distinct vibe youā€™d be going for with your sibset and for any future children should you have more.

[name_f]Leni[/name_f], Ru, and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] feels distinctly warm and vintage. [name_f]Frances[/name_f] brings out the old-timey-nickname style of [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and Ru. If I was naming another sister for these three, Iā€™d probably lean more towards [name_f]Margo[/name_f] or [name_f]Willa[/name_f] as opposed to [name_u]Ezer[/name_u] and [name_m]Coen[/name_m], since those choices would start to feel out of place to me.

[name_f]Leni[/name_f], Ru, and [name_u]Ezer[/name_u] share an unexpected and offbeat, spunky quality! They also feel a bit artsy and I would expect them to have very fun, adventurous, and creative parents. I think [name_m]Coen[/name_m] could be a fourth sister to this set, but [name_f]Frances[/name_f] would stand out. I do love the idea of [name_u]Ezer[/name_u] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] as a combo if that was something youā€™d be open to!

[name_f]Leni[/name_f], Ru, and [name_m]Coen[/name_m] is very sleek and tailored to me. I think [name_m]Coen[/name_m] brings out the gender-neutral nature of [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and Ru are makes it feel very intentional (something I like but also important to keep in mind). However, while [name_u]Coco[/name_u] is so sweet with your girls, I hesitate to say I like [name_m]Coen[/name_m] for you because [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and [name_m]Coen[/name_m] together feels like a very strong nod to [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] [name_u]Cohen[/name_u], and I donā€™t know how you feel about that!

Overall, though [name_f]Frances[/name_f] is actually very high on my own list, I think my vote goes to [name_u]Ezer[/name_u]!

Iā€™m changed my mind on [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and am now really digging it with your set - itā€™s charming and adds to that eclectic and quirky and unexpected vibe of your girls.

[name_u]Ezer[/name_u] is my second favourite - strong and distinctive with a great meaning too  also cute nn Ezzie if you like it

I love all this insight, it helps me zoom out a bit and not be so in my head.

I actually agree about [name_m]Coen[/name_m]. I think picking [name_m]Coen[/name_m] as the third perhaps gives all three names a bit of a masculine feel, whereas [name_f]Frances[/name_f] softens things and [name_u]Ezer[/name_u] ties in a more playful, unexpected vibe.

Thank you for all this! We actually love [name_f]Margot[/name_f], my husband just wonā€™t use it :joy: Iā€™ve been begging for [name_f]Effie[/name_f] as itā€™s a fav of mine but heā€™s also reluctant on that. Menā€¦.

Ahhh gosh if it wasnā€™t for compromising eh?!

From your list my favourite is definitely Frances. Sheā€™s elegant, spunky, timeless and feels like a name that has been on mind for a while. I like how Frances sounds with L3ni + R.u very bright and warm.

Regarding Ezer Iā€™m personally not a fan. The name just doesnā€™t look attractive to me and I think doesnā€™t have the sparkly feel of your older girls. Concerning Coen Iā€™m not a fan. I get that youā€™re Jewish but I still think itā€™s about how the name could be perceived also as you say you think the name is ā€˜coolā€™ which is a pet peeve of mine. I think itā€™s wrong to choose a name of cultural significance even if itā€™s from your culture because it feels ā€˜coolā€™. Iā€™m also of Jewish heritage (my mum is a practising reformist Jew) and we all know the importance of Cohenā€™s role within Judaism so I just think itā€™s not the best. I appreciate youā€™ve taken away the ā€˜hā€™ but altering the spelling doesnā€™t take away from the fact that the name is essentially Cohen. But these are just my personal thoughts.

Anyways going back to Frances sheā€™s absolutely stunning! Really lovely choice that will be beautiful with your girls.

Wishing you all the best :butterfly:

I like [name_f]Frances[/name_f] for you out of these 3, especially with the nn [name_f]Franny[/name_f].

Echoing othersā€™ thoughts about [name_m]Coen[/name_m] - I wouldnā€™t do it, personally. Would just [name_u]Coco[/name_u] be an option? Because that would be perfect with [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and Ru.

I appreciate all this insight, thank you.

I totally agree and understand on picking a name because it sounds ā€œcool.ā€ Poor wording on my choice, I suppose by cool I meant more the name itself is neat. But I do see where youā€™re coming from and how it can seem performative and inauthentic to pick a name based on this factor. And good perspective for me on your reasons to best avoid the name.

Thanks for your pick of [name_f]Frances[/name_f] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I suspect [name_u]Coco[/name_u] would be a hard sell for the husband :joy: but I sure love it! A perfect trio those three would be

Your welcome! Iā€™m sorry if I came across harshly I just feel strongly about cultural appropriation which includes choosing names of cultural significance due to the ā€˜cool factorā€™ I just think itā€™s wrong. But Iā€™m just passionate about this and I appreciate where youā€™re coming from with poor wording etc. I think [name_f]Frances[/name_f] is gorgeous and whatever name you choose will be right for you and your family :two_hearts:

Youā€™re totally right and itā€™s admirable you voice that. Regardless of if we are Jewish or not, Iā€™m picking the name because I like it and not because it has significance or meaning to me, so it still applies to what you are describing and I donā€™t think thatā€™s a very respectful choice either.

Appreciate you advocating for what you believe :sparkles:

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] gets my vote this time! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: [name_f]Vintage[/name_f], underused and strong but with fun nicknames that also sound lovely with [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and Ru.

I really like the thought of [name_f]Frances[/name_f] with [name_f]Leni[/name_f] & Ru! [name_u]Fran[/name_u] & [name_f]Franny[/name_f] would be the perfect nicknames that would also tie in with your other girls. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the unexpectedness of it all, makes it so charming

Another vote for [name_f]Frances[/name_f]! Itā€™s my daughterā€™s first middle and I occasionally use it in her name (or Franny) because I love the name so much. [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Franny[/name_f], Francy, all so literary and swish, like your others. [name_u]Ezer[/name_u] is too hip for me and feels a bit too boyish rapper name somehow. I like the sound of [name_m]Coen[/name_m] but obvious risks there. If thereā€™s another name that is tailored and sweet like it (Claude/Claudie?), maybe it could contend with [name_f]Frances[/name_f], but till then, [name_f]Frances[/name_f] the front runner!

(Btw, I missed your announcement - after being quite heavily involved for an online stranger (lol), would love to know what Ruā€™s full name is?)
