This List Just Keeps Growing!

Hey guys, I am rewriting a story I started to write a year ago and with a new plot comes new names. It’s been realitively easy to name the main characters, but it’s been extremely difficult. It’s set up in the country in the 1890s, and it’s following a wealthy girl whos engaged to someone with the money to save her family but spends the summer at her cousins place and meets a farmer guy and falls in love with him. Cliche, I know, but this story won’t leave my head!
Now this girl is a proper young lady who is used to being pushed around by family, and has some money, and is very clever and intelligent The downside to her is she tends to be portrayed as a bit snobby and self-centered. She is a brunette with hazel eyes and fair skin, and before spending the summer with her cousins she never would’ve dreamed of running around barefoot or getting dirty, but as the story progresses the wealthy lifestyle of being prim and proper starts loosing it’s appeal and she becomes more independent and fun loving.
So, it seems that every few minutes the name for this character changes, and that is how I ended up with this extremely long list. I’ve nixed a few names ([name]Florence[/name], [name]Christiana[/name], and [name]Hannah[/name]) but only to add even more onto my list. This is what it looks like now:

[name]Dahlia[/name] (this was the origional name that first popped into my head, I love how regal it is)
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Esme[/name]
[name]Sylvia[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] (too modern?)
[name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Eva[/name] (it’s just so short!)
[name]Cornelia[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]/[name]Rosamond[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Lark[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
Mazarine (sounds a little harsh for this character, unless I can find a nickname)
[name]Daisy[/name] (worried about the Great [name]Gatsby[/name] appeal, since the story is somewhat similar in a way, and I want my heroine to have a name that’s her own)
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Vera[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Camilla[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name]
The last name will be AuCoin, [name]Sullivan[/name], [name]Gardner[/name], [name]Parrish[/name], or Hunningford.

So I’m sorry for such a long post, but I can see a bit of this character in each of these names, and theres so many lovely Victorian names out there, I think I want to use them all haha. But all in all I’m trying to come up with a sweet and feminine name that makes a statement. Name suggestions are welcome, but I would prefer to shorten the list instead of making it longer  As always, combinations and critism are greatly apprecitated!
Thanks!!!

The ones I think would work:
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Dahlia[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] - Not too modern!
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]

Others that could work: [name]Scarlett[/name] (first one that came to mind), [name]Vivian[/name], [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Alexandra[/name].

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

[name]Scarlett[/name] first came to my mind as well, and I’d use it in a heartbeat if I liked it. But my list has shrunk down incredibly! I am now between [name]Stella[/name] (glad that’s not too modern!) and [name]Vivian[/name] and the last name will be [name]Parrish[/name]. Thanks a bunch nicole!

Now, which to choose berries? I really love [name]Stella[/name], it’s growing on me, but I can see [name]Vivian[/name] working as well. So, [name]Stella[/name] or [name]Vivian[/name]?

and yay, 100th post

From your list I like: [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Stella[/name] (it’s not too modern), [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Cornelia[/name], [name]Flora[/name], and [name]Lydia[/name]

Something I do when I’m wanting names with a specific time in mind, is I like checking the Social Security Index: Popular Baby Names

it gives names that were popular at that time like: [name]Mary[/name], [name]Anna[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Lillian[/name], etc.

I would choose [name]Stella[/name] because it has more dramatic and girlier flair, but both work.

Congrats on your hundredth post!

I like these best for your character: [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Cornelia[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name], and [name]Camilla[/name].
I think the last names AuCoin, [name]Parrish[/name] and Hunningford work best with these and they sound very well-to-do.
These nicknames seem to agree with the person your character becomes: [name]Rosie[/name], [name]Vicky[/name], [name]Milla[/name]/[name]Millie[/name]. Maybe [name]Nellie[/name] for [name]Cornelia[/name], [name]Trixy[/name] for [name]Beatrix[/name], and [name]George[/name] for [name]Georgiana[/name]…oh, what a disgrace! (Assuming that as she strays from the prim and proper old-self and becomes more free and natural she starts to be addressed with a less-formal nickname. Perhaps her love interest gives her this nickname, while others feel it improper to call her by anything other than her full name? Or maybe just her parents say her nickname and everyone else treats her like a lady?)

I really like the idea of a nickname given to her by her love intrest! But, I think I’m going to use [name]Stella[/name], and I can’t come up with a better nickname than Stell…

oh and ygramul, I did check the ssa list, I made sure to go down past the top 100

This just in…[name]How[/name] do you guys like the nickname [name]Elle[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name] for [name]Stella[/name]? Does it take away some loveliness from [name]Stella[/name], because my character will definently be [name]Stella[/name] [name]Parrish[/name].
Thanks!

I like [name]Ella[/name] best as a nn for [name]Stella[/name], [name]Elle[/name] second and [name]Ellie[/name] third. Good thinking!

My vote definitely goes to [name]Vivian[/name]! Its beautiful, and I especially love the spelling [name]Vivienne[/name] …it is such a great choice, I can absolutely see your character being called [name]Vivienne[/name].

[name]Stella[/name], while it is a classic name, feels very trendy now that it is experiencing a popularity boost. [name]Vivienne[/name] feels more demure, and sophisticated as well.

What about the nickname Stellar for [name]Stella[/name]? I know a [name]Stella[/name] and we call her Stellar for kicks.

I can see my character being named [name]Vivian[/name] nn [name]Viv[/name] too, but I’m head over heels loving [name]Stella[/name] nn [name]Ella[/name] and Stellar(I can totally see her correcting people who call her [name]Ella[/name]. "It’s not [name]Ella[/name], it’s ST-ella. St, St. or something cheesy like that  )for this character. I considered naming her [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Stella[/name], but I dont think she’s the type of girl who’d go by her middle name at all, and I dont like the flow of [name]Stella[/name] [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Parrish[/name], something about it is a bit off. So I will be saving [name]Vivian[/name] for another story sometime in the future, and my characters name is [name]Stella[/name] [name]Sophronia[/name] [name]Parrish[/name] (I have to admit, I’m pretty proud of myself for coming across [name]Sophronia[/name] )Thanks for everyone’s help, I really appreciate it! I honestly think if it werent for you guys I’d still be agonizing over that list

Another nickname for [name]Stella[/name], maybe a pet name in the family or something, could be [name]Star[/name]. That’s one of the meanings for [name]Stella[/name]. I like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Sophronia[/name] [name]Parrish[/name]. It seems formidable at first, but you know that there is lots of personality there too.

[name]Stella[/name] could be a nn for [name]Estelle[/name] too. I’m also a big fan of [name]Sophronia[/name]! I’m glad you’re using that.
