My husband and I are torn between two names for our [name]January[/name] due baby girl. Although we love each name, we are concerned with potential issues with each.
[name]Aria[/name] - [name]Love[/name] the meaning and musical overtone, but concerned the name will become too popular from t.v. and become the next [name]Ava[/name]. (No hate toward [name]Ava[/name] btw, just prefer less common names)
[name]Dahlia[/name] - [name]Love[/name] the name, but worried her nick name will be “[name]Dolly[/name]” even if we try to enstill “Sweet D”
I don’t think [name]Aria[/name] will be that common, but I prefer [name]Dahlia[/name] anyway. [name]Aria[/name] has been rising in popularity, but I don’t think it will quite be the next [name]Ava[/name]. And maybe it’s because I have an absolutely dreadful association with the name, but I think [name]Dahlia[/name] is much prettier. And I doubt anyone will call her [name]Dolly[/name] if she introduces herself as [name]Dahlia[/name].
I like [name]Aria[/name] - and it’s a name I don’t see popping up a lot in my son’s daycare. I watch closely since I am having a girl this time.
[name]Dahlia[/name] reminds me of “the black [name]Dahlia[/name]”, so not a huge fan. Not sure I would get [name]Dolly[/name] from it, but I could see Dali or [name]Lia[/name]
I disagree about [name]Aria[/name]–it’s a pretty name, but a trendy one, and I suspect it’s going to sound very dated in a few years.
So I vote [name]Dahlia[/name]. It’s much spunkier/more fun. I also dislike [name]Dolly[/name], but I think you can easily enforce [name]Lia[/name] or [name]Dee[/name].
I’d go with [name]Dahlia[/name] but honestly I think you should keep both till you have your baby so that you can choose with one she looks more like when you meet her.
I agree that [name]Aria[/name] comes off as quite trendy and will probably continue to rise in popularity in the next few years. That being said I prefer [name]Dahlia[/name] even disregarding popularity and honestly I would never have thought about calling someone named [name]Dahlia[/name] [name]Dolly[/name].
I really like both names. [name]Aria[/name] is on the rise & I think it’s very pretty. [name]Dahlia[/name] is pretty as well, and I love [name]Dolly[/name]! I don’t think Sweet D is a nickname you can enforce for others, it’s more of a term of endearment that you and your immediate family could use. I don’t think preparing a nickname is necessary, I mean, [name]Aria[/name] wouldn’t have one. [name]Dahlia[/name] has the [name]Black[/name] [name]Dahlia[/name] association, but I don’t think that ruins the name. I think I like [name]Aria[/name] a bit more, but I do dislike the popularity factor.
how many arias do you know or have actually heard of. I know none. I love [name]Aria[/name]. I know a [name]Dahlia[/name] but is pronounced Dah-leah. Being on here makes some names seem more popular than others.I’d keep both and wait til she’s here to name her.
[name]Aria[/name]/[name]Ariana[/name] are definitely rising in popularity, and I think both [name]Dahlia[/name] and [name]Aria[/name] have very similar styles. [name]Dolly[/name] wasn’t the first thing I thought of nickname-wise for [name]Dahlia[/name], and it’s such a lovely name. [name]Lia[/name]/[name]Lea[/name] was the first thing, I thought of actually. Similar to [name]Aria[/name] is [name]Ariane[/name], and I think [name]Dahlia[/name] [name]Ariane[/name] is positively gorgeous.
