This or that - boys

[name]Hi[/name] all,

To help us narrow down, can you say which you prefer out of each combination and why? Siblings are [name]Luke[/name], [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] “[name]Libby[/name]” and surname is one syllable, begins in M ends in S.

[name]Jack[/name] or [name]Jake[/name]/[name]Jacob[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] or [name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Adam[/name]
[name]Alfie[/name] or [name]Freddie[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Charlie[/name] or [name]Connor[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name] or [name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Harry[/name] or [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Reuben[/name] or [name]Russell[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name] or [name]William[/name]

Thanks,

HappyH

[name]Jack[/name]- more classic, less popular, though on the rise
[name]Samuel[/name]- I think it sounds best with your other kid’s names. And i love the nn [name]Sam[/name]
[name]Adam[/name]- Once again, a classic. Not too popular, and works with with set
[name]Freddie[/name]- Honestly, not a fan of either, but [name]Freddie[/name] seems slightly less cute-sy
[name]Joseph[/name]- works better with your set
[name]Charlie[/name]- Ages well and is a classic
[name]Isaac[/name]- I think [name]Oliver[/name] sounds a little too close to [name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]- suits your set better
[name]Russell[/name]- once again, not a fan of either, [name]Reuben[/name] just reminds me of a sandwich
[name]Nathan[/name]- Sounds good with your set and less popular than [name]William[/name]. I think [name]William[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are a bit pretentious together.

[name]Jacob[/name] nn [name]Jake[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
neither [name]Alfie[/name] or [name]Freddie[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Connor[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Russell[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name]

Thanks mbrow222 and raquel.

I really like [name]Oliver[/name] and he would go by [name]Ollie[/name] some of the time, would that still be too close? And I forgot to mention we’re in the UK where names like [name]Alfie[/name], [name]Freddie[/name], [name]Frankie[/name] are used without any longer form so even though they might seem cutesy to people in another country they don’t to me, they’re pretty normal.

And what’s [name]Reuben[/name] got to do with a sandwich?

[name]Jack[/name]- This was so hard for me. I love both [name]Jake[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] equally. However, [name]Jack[/name]'s less common and that’s important so that your little boy doesn’t end up being [name]Jake[/name] H. in the classroom.

[name]Daniel[/name]- I love the nickname [name]Sam[/name], but [name]Daniel[/name]'s the nicer full name [name]IMO[/name].

[name]Alexander[/name]- Personal reasons for this one. [name]Every[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] I’ve ever met has been intelligent and endearing, every [name]Adam[/name]? Not so much.

[name]Alfie[/name]- UGH. I despise both of these names, but at least [name]Alfie[/name] doesn’t remind me of [name]Freddy[/name] Krueger.

[name]Matthew[/name]- Honestly, [name]Joseph[/name]'s a fine name too, I guess I just prefer the nickname [name]Matt[/name] to [name]Joey[/name]/[name]Joe[/name]. Though, you have much more interesting choices on this list than these two names.

[name]Charlie[/name]- I love, love, love [name]Charlie[/name]! Besides, [name]Connor[/name]'s awfully trendy.

[name]Oliver[/name]- This one was easy. I love everything about [name]Oliver[/name] and can’t stand the look/sound of [name]Isaac[/name].

[name]Harry[/name]- Thanks to the prince and Mr. Styles, this name is prime for use. Also, it’s worlds more interesting than old, dull [name]Thomas[/name].

[name]Russell[/name]- I’m indifferent to both of these names, so, honestly, you could go either way and have a perfectly nice name. I only chose [name]Russell[/name] because I liked the nn possibility of [name]Russ[/name].

[name]William[/name]- My all time favorite boy name. However, had [name]Nathan[/name] been [name]Nathaniel[/name], it would have given [name]William[/name] a run for its money. (;

I still think [name]Ollie[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name] are a bit to similar, but if you and your partner like it, then go for it  Its a great name. I’m Canadian, and here we have sandwiches that are called Reubens, so thats just what I think of.

[name]Jack[/name] or [name]Jake[/name]/[name]Jacob[/name] I have a soft spot for ‘[name]Jake[/name]’ as a first name.
[name]Samuel[/name] or [name]Daniel[/name] Never liked [name]Daniel[/name].
[name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Adam[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] is very common, [name]Adam[/name] is refreshing.
[name]Alfie[/name] or [name]Freddie[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Joseph[/name] Not a fan of [name]Joseph[/name].
[name]Charlie[/name] or [name]Connor[/name] [name]Connor[/name] goes better with sib set.
[name]Oliver[/name] or [name]Isaac[/name] [name]Isaac[/name] is less popular, sounds better with [name]Elliot[/name].
[name]Harry[/name] or [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Reuben[/name] or [name]Russell[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name] or [name]William[/name]

With siblings [name]Luke[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], and [name]Elizabeth[/name] “[name]Libby[/name]”:Jack or Jake/Jacob
Samuel or Daniel
Alexander or Adam
Alfie or Freddie
Matthew or Joseph**
Charlie or Connor
Oliver or Isaac**
Harry or Thomas**
Reuben or Russell
Nathan or William**

I starred my favorites

[name]Jack[/name]. I like [name]Jacob[/name], but I love [name]Jack[/name], and I quite strongly dislike (okay, hate) [name]Jake[/name]. It just doesn’t sound appealing to me at all.
[name]Samuel[/name]. At the moment. I adore [name]Daniel[/name], and in general, that’s probably my favorite of the two, but I like [name]Samuel[/name] for a FN more, and [name]Daniel[/name] for a MN.
[name]Alexander[/name]. I like the feel of [name]Adam[/name], and the ties I have to it (my best friend in high school was an [name]Adam[/name]), but I prefer [name]Alexander[/name] for a name I would actually use (plus, [name]Jack[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], and [name]Alexander[/name] would be fab for brothers!).
[name]Freddie[/name]. [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Freddie[/name]; don’t see the appeal of [name]Alfie[/name]. I would use [name]Alfred[/name], just to get to [name]Freddie[/name], haha.
[name]Matthew[/name]. I love [name]Joseph[/name], but I like [name]Matthew[/name] much more.
[name]Charlie[/name]! The only [name]Connor[/name] I’ve known is frankly awful, so I can’t even consider it. I love [name]Charlie[/name], though; [name]Charles[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] is on my top 10.
[name]Isaac[/name]. I like [name]Oliver[/name], but I don’t love it. And I’ve really been loving [name]Isaac[/name] lately! I love the Biblical namesake, and the meaning! Plus, [name]Isaac[/name]'s just a really cool, really fun name.
[name]Thomas[/name]. [name]Harry[/name] just seems too nicknamey for me. I like [name]Henry[/name] or [name]Harrison[/name] much more.
[name]Russell[/name]. I think. It’s a family name that I’ve always liked as a middle, but I like [name]Reuben[/name], too (probably because my mom loves [name]Reuben[/name] sandwiches, haha. And they’re totally not just a Canadian thing.
[name]William[/name]. I like [name]Nathan[/name] better for a FN; [name]William[/name] seems sort of boring up front to me, but I love [name]William[/name] in general–it’s so classic and handsome and regal. Such a lovely name. And it goes so well with some of the others–[name]Jack[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Freddie[/name]/[name]Frederick[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Russell[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Isaac[/name]… I really love them all together.

[name]Jack[/name] or [name]Jake[/name]/[name]Jacob[/name] - [name]Jacob[/name], by a long way. I find the name [name]Jack[/name] is sooooo dull. I’ve never understood its popularity.
[name]Samuel[/name]or [name]Daniel[/name] - [name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Adam[/name] - [name]Love[/name] both of these names, but [name]Adam[/name] is a little more unexpected, so it just wins
[name]Alfie[/name] or [name]Freddie[/name] - I’m not keen on either, but [name]Freddie[/name] just has the edge (I know a cat called [name]Alfie[/name], so I find it hard to picture on a person!)
[name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Joseph[/name] - Tough one. Voting for [name]Joseph[/name], but only because I know a lot of [name]Matt[/name]’s
[name]Charlie[/name] or [name]Connor[/name] - [name]Connor[/name], although it’s not my favourite on the list
[name]Oliver[/name] or [name]Isaac[/name] - [name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Harry[/name] or [name]Thomas[/name] - [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Reuben[/name] or [name]Russell[/name] - [name]Russell[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name] or [name]William[/name] - [name]William[/name], but I really like [name]Nathan[/name] too.

Great list!

[name]Jack[/name] – one of my faves, no contest
[name]Samuel[/name] – just really don’t like the nickname [name]Danny[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] – no great reason, I just like it a little better
[name]Alfie[/name] – I dunno, my mind just goes to [name]Freddy[/name] Krueger
[name]Matthew[/name] – don’t really like either all that much, but if I had to pick
[name]Charlie[/name] – love [name]Connor[/name], great name, I think I’m just biased because I know a lot of Charlies I like
[name]Oliver[/name] – again, no good reason, just have a soft spot for [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Harry[/name] – don’t love [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Russell[/name] – really don’t like [name]Reuben[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name] – absolutely no good reason, I hate the name [name]William[/name] for personal reasons (but the nicknames are awful)

[name]Jack[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Alfie[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Charlie[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Harry[/name]
[name]Reuben[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name]

All of these were chosen out of pure personal preference.

These are chosen based on how they sound with the rest of the siblings. I think they all work fabulously except for [name]Alfie[/name]/[name]Freddie[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name]/[name]Connor[/name], which all have a very different feel from your current kiddos.

[name]Jacob[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Adam[/name]
[name]Alfie[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Charlie[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Reuben[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name]

[name]Jack[/name]! My brother is a [name]Jacob[/name] nn C0bbie (a long story) and [name]Jack[/name] is that little bit less popular. [name]Jack[/name] is really cute, and a name that hasn’t really dated.
I [name]Samuel[/name] a lot better as a FN, but [name]Daniel[/name] as a MN.
[name]Alexander[/name] I love this. I especially like [name]Alessandra[/name] for a girl.
[name]Alfie[/name]. I like Alflie much better, but [name]Alfred[/name] has both nickname possibilities!
I am loving [name]Matthew[/name] a lot at the moment.
[name]Charlie[/name]. [name]Charles[/name] is cute too.
[name]Oliver[/name] is my favourite name from you list! But [name]Ollie[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name] are a bit to matchy.
[name]Even[/name] though Th0mas is my other brother’s name, I like it a lot. [name]Harry[/name] is a bit too nicknamey, I prefer [name]Henry[/name].
[name]Russell[/name], even though I don’t really like either of them.
[name]Nathan[/name], because it goes better with ‘his’ siblings.

Good luck!

[name]Jack[/name] or [name]Jake[/name]/[name]Jacob[/name]- While [name]Jack[/name] has the better name meaning “God is gracious”. I prefer the name [name]Jacob[/name].
[name]Samuel[/name] or [name]Daniel[/name]- [name]Samuel[/name] “God has heard”
[name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Adam[/name]- [name]Alexander[/name] “Defender of [name]Man[/name]”…I suggest the nicknames [name]Lex[/name] or [name]Xander[/name], as opposed to the more common [name]Alex[/name].
[name]Alfie[/name] or [name]Freddie[/name]- [name]Alfie[/name]. As the full name not short for anything. However, name your child [name]Alfred[/name], and you can use either [name]Alfie[/name] or [name]Freddie[/name].
[name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Joseph[/name]- [name]Matthew[/name]! “Gift of God” I also, like the Polish, [name]Mateusz[/name].
[name]Charlie[/name] or [name]Connor[/name]- [name]Charlie[/name].
[name]Oliver[/name] or [name]Isaac[/name]- [name]Issac[/name]
[name]Harry[/name] or [name]Thomas[/name]- [name]Thomas[/name].
[name]Reuben[/name] or [name]Russell[/name]- [name]Russell[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name] or [name]William[/name]- [name]William[/name], nick name [name]Liam[/name].

Thanks everyone.

mbrow222 - We do like it, but we haven’t got a frontrunner yet, we’ve got a lot of names we’re considering.

ashthedreamer - It would be [name]Alfie[/name] or [name]Freddie[/name], not [name]Alfred[/name], it sounds too old man to me. And [name]Reuben[/name] sandwiches obvviously aren’t a thing in the UK, so that doesn’t bother me.

dsilentf - We wouldn’t use the nickname [name]Liam[/name], I prefer [name]Will[/name] and my partner thinks a baby [name]Billy[/name] would be cute, but neither of us are fans of [name]Liam[/name].
