I know I am going to get hit hard with a lot of critism through the berries about this name we are looking to use. I know this is a unisex name mostly for boys but my husband and I fell in love with it. Though we haven’t fully decided on the name, we are. Highly considering it.
The name is callaway, her nickname will be calla or [name]Callie[/name].
Any suggestions for middle names
Other names we are considering
[name]Carys[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Shea[/name]
I don’t think boys are automatically entitled to all surnames. They should be open to all comers–especially those names that aren’t used much. I like your originality!
The first time I ever heard [name]Callaway[/name] I thought… what a lovely name for a girl. However, it is a very popular brand of golf clubs. Having said that I don’t think you will meet with that many critical comments since the sound is so lyrical. Overall I think it’s a nice choice. [name]How[/name] about…
I prefer [name]Carys[/name] or [name]Isla[/name], but that’s just my personal style. I have never met a [name]Callaway[/name], so I don’t feel it’s particularly masculine or feminine. There are plenty of last name names that are used for girls and not boys, like [name]Kennedy[/name], [name]McKenna[/name], etc. Maybe [name]Callaway[/name] will become one of them? I don’t know why, but [name]Callaway[/name] [name]Ann[/name] was the first suggestion to pop into my head. I know [name]Ann[/name] is considered boring and a filler, but I like it. [name]Callaway[/name] needs a more simple, common, feminine middle to balance it, I think.
I think [name]Carys[/name], [name]Shea[/name] and [name]Isla[/name] are so strong, beautiful and full of character. I’m afraid I’m not a fan of [name]Callaway[/name]. I just don’t think I would want that name myself, or look at it on my degree posted on the wall, you know? I like [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Callie[/name] though, so I’m confused about your motivation for [name]Callaway[/name] since your other options are strong, feminine names. It seems like [name]Callaway[/name] is the odd one out. If it has significance in terms of being your mom’s maiden name or a family name, then perhaps that would sway me.
[name]Just[/name] a thought here, but if I’m honest, [name]Callaway[/name] immediately brings to mind the golf club brand. I’m not athletically inclined, so there’s no bias here… If you start typing [name]Callaway[/name] into yahoo search, the first suggesting is [name]Callaway[/name] golf…
I love [name]Calla[/name] or [name]Callie[/name]. Perhaps go with [name]Calla[/name] - it might be nicer for your little girl to be named after a very beautiful flower instead of [name]Phil[/name] Mickleson’s favorite driver. You could still call her [name]Callie[/name].
[name]Calla[/name] [name]Desiree[/name] has a similar sound and I think is very unique.
I like [name]Callaway[/name] and the nn cala reminds me of lilies which is def more feminine. The first thing I thought was [name]Callaway[/name] [name]Shea[/name] when i read your list. I also like [name]Callaway[/name] [name]Rhea[/name], though.
[name]Callaway[/name] is not my cup of tea, although I think [name]Calla[/name] is beautiful.
Would Caraway be a possibility? Because of the seeds picks up on the current herby nature trend (like [name]Juniper[/name], [name]Sage[/name], [name]Olive[/name]). Could be [name]Carrie[/name] for short…
I love [name]Callaway[/name] for a girl. I have always loved the nickname [name]Callie[/name] but hated all of the options for longer names ([name]Calliope[/name], [name]Callista[/name], etc). [name]Callaway[/name] is a awesomely different. I actually really like [name]Callaway[/name] [name]Carys[/name] (alliteration gets me) and [name]Callaway[/name] [name]Shea[/name] (I usually don’t like rhyming names, but this is really fun to say).
I’m not usually a fan of surname/unisex names but I quite like [name]Callaway[/name]! I think it would be easy to wear and the nn’s [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Callie[/name] are clearly feminine! [name]How[/name] about [name]Callaway[/name] [name]Eve[/name]? Hmm [name]Callaway[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Callaway[/name] [name]Shea[/name] rhymes. That seems odd to me. I think it needs a simple and short middle name. [name]Anne[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Grace[/name], etc.
I like [name]Callaway[/name] just fine although it does have a strong association to the brand in my mind. [name]Calla[/name] is beautiful and a natural nn. I agree with pp who mentioned that [name]Callaway[/name] seems different from the other names you like ([name]Isla[/name], [name]Shea[/name], etc) - I would just make sure you can think of future sibling names that you would be comfortable using. If you can think of a bunch (or if you think sisters [name]Callaway[/name] and [name]Isla[/name], for example, would be fine) then I think it’s a great fit for you.
I don’t like [name]Callaway[/name] [name]Shea[/name] because it rhymes.
[name]Callaway[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Callaway[/name] [name]Cecile[/name]
[name]Callaway[/name] [name]Tess[/name]
[name]Callaway[/name] is nice, to be honest I don’t really see it on a boy very well… [name]Calla[/name] is just so frilly it outdoes the surname feel that seems to make names feel more masculine. Or at least in my opinion. Now its not a name I’d personally use, but I can imagine it cute on another person’s baby! And I think [name]Calla[/name] or [name]Callie[/name] are both lovely options. If your worried of criticism you could stick to [name]Calla[/name]? <3

I like Carys, but when I brought it up to family everyone thought I said Paris so I guess that threw me off. Guess it depends if that’d bother you hehe Its lovely though <3 <3
Isla is soo beautiful. I also really like Shea!! I met a little boy named Shea at work before, but I like it better on a girl. Beautiful.
I don’t mind [name]Callaway[/name] although the spelling looks a little off to me, as I’m more familiar with [name]Calloway[/name]. The nickname [name]Calla[/name] is lovely, have you considered using that on its own? I also like [name]Calanthe[/name], [name]Calantha[/name] and [name]Calliope[/name] as longer ways to get to [name]Calla[/name].
