Thora or Theda?

Which one do you prefer and why?

[name_f]Thora[/name_f] is my pick, althought [name_f]Theda[/name_f] is still fine. Is [name_f]Tyra[/name_f] more interesting to you?

I like both but I think i like [name_f]Thora[/name_f] a little more. There’s something so pleasing and intriguing about how it sounds -something powerful, distinctive and strong

I love [name_f]Thora[/name_f] bc it looks more pleasing [name_f]IMO[/name_f]

I really like [name_f]Theda[/name_f] for some reason, it sounds much prettier to me.

I prefer [name_f]Thora[/name_f], it’s unique without being over the top.

I love both but [name_f]Thora[/name_f] has the edge for me - strong but so pretty at the same time.

[name_f]Thora[/name_f], it’s more pleasant and sounds really powerful.

I really enjoy both, so I’m having a hard time choosing! I think in this moment, I prefer [name_f]Theda[/name_f], but I do really like [name_f]Thora[/name_f] as well.

Both wonderful and underused names!

I used to like [name_f]Thora[/name_f] for [name_f]Thora[/name_f] [name_m]Birch[/name_m] after I saw that movie Ghost World. Recently considered it again but pronounced like [name_u]Tora[/name_u]. In the end settled for just spelling it [name_u]Tora[/name_u], but now I can’t ‘‘unhear’’ this pn and don’t really care for the th- pronunciation anymore (I’ll admit some of it is for silly etymology-purist reasons, but also I find the sound a little bit understated for my taste). That’s not to say it isn’t a great name, I really think it’s lovely.

I do however, slightly prefer [name_f]Theda[/name_f] I think. Such a pleasant and heavy sound - she actually sounds more thunderous to me than [name_f]Thora[/name_f] does. Has a very Latin/Greek feeling too, like [name_f]Leda[/name_f] and [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] together but somehow more familiar. I like her a lot.

Both are stunning names! Still, I prefer [name_f]Theda[/name_f].

  1. It feels spunkier, maybe because it reminds me of [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]?
  2. It has such a distinctive sound! Th- beginnings are not that common, yeah, but [name_f]Thora[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_f]Liora[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Annora[/name_f] etc. The only other -eda ending I can think of is [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] but that can be pronounced differently.

I’m in love with [name_f]Thora[/name_f], both for the strong sound and the meaning. It’s a strong, sophisticated name that’s very distinctive, but doesn’t seem over-the-top.

I always go back and forth between these two, both are gorgeous! I think I prefer the way [name_f]Thora[/name_f] looks, and how it seems softer, but [name_f]Theda[/name_f] is so strong and full of personality. I can’t pick just one favourite though.

I would pick [name_f]Thora[/name_f]. [name_f]Theda[/name_f] sounds odd to me, not sure why. Though I like the [name_f]Theda[/name_f] [name_f]Bara[/name_f] association.

I prefer [name_f]Theda[/name_f], though I do like [name_f]Thora[/name_f], too.

I like that it’s a lot less familiar but not overly obscure either - a mix of sorts, of [name_f]Thea[/name_f] & [name_f]Leda[/name_f]. It has a quirky-vintage feel, a bit of a mysterious vibe and a great strength.

Probably [name_f]Thora[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Leda[/name_f], but not [name_f]Theda[/name_f]…
