I know my husband and I love this name, but I would like to hear others’ opinions and thoughts as well. Is this a bit “too much” or too far off the beaten path? What do you think?
Well, it’s not exactly in the top 100, but it has a very phonetic spelling so I think it’d be very easy for people to grasp and understand. It’s also open to at least a couple “easier” nickname, if that’s an issue for you.
Thanks. Yeah, I know it’s definitely not a common name, but I guess I’m wondering if it’s a name others will likely side-eye. I do like the easy, straight-forward pronunciation, so that’s a plus. I’m just sort of wondering what others’ visceral reactions are to this name.
I really like it. I think it has that great mix of unique, but not unheard of. Go for it!
I think it’s lovely.
I love [name_m]Leander[/name_m]! I think it’s one of those names that’s very accessible even though it’s unfamiliar to many people because it’s easy to pronounce and similar in some ways to name that are more popular - [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Xander[/name_m], and so on. I think it’s very underused.
Thank so much- that makes me feel better about it. Sometimes you get tunnel vision when you like a name so much that it becomes hard to see how other people will perceive it.
I like it,but when I brought the name up to my mom she said it’s too close to [name_f]Leanne[/name_f] and sounds feminine. That may be most other people’s reaction to this name I’m afraid.
Ditto.
For the reasons nono listed above, I don’t think it’s too much name for any child.
I agree with nono. It’s a great name, great nicknames – [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Anders[/name_m], [name_m]Xander[/name_m] – and I don’t think it’s nearly as unique as other names being used. I don’t think you’ll have too many issues with it.
