What are your thoughts on [name]Laura[/name]? (Currently) Underused Classic or Dated?
At least where i’m at, it’s extremely underused…the only one i know is my step-aunt who is in her fifties…
It’s alright. It makes me think of [name]Laura[/name] Ingalls [name]Wilder[/name], who’s books/life really inspired me when i was a kid. So in some sense, it feels like a dated name, to me.
I much prefer [name]Lauren[/name] to [name]Laura[/name].
I like [name]Laura[/name] quite a bit. I think it’s one of those names that can really fit anyone and it’s not going to make waves or anything. It’s pretty and feminine without being frilly.
[name]Laurel[/name] might get you the sound you like and update the name a bit, but I don’t really think it’s necessary as I don’t see it as a name that can really go out of style.
[name]Laura[/name] is timeless to me. I [name]LOVE[/name] it! My son is ready the [name]Little[/name] House series for school and it has had me thinking about how pretty all those names are. [name]Even[/name] [name]Nellie[/name].
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Laura[/name]. The only reason it isn’t a FN on my list is beacause I already have [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Laura[/name] woud just be too similar. I definitely think it’s an underused, timeless classic
It’s nice enough. Not exciting, but not objectionable either. Very pleasant.
I think you could go with a middle name that is a bit more exciting to jazz it up.
I love [name]Laura[/name]! Definitely underused and pretty.
I think [name]Laura[/name] is a classic and won’t ever be dated, but I know a lot of [name]Laura[/name]'s and the name doesn’t do much for me at all. [name]Lauren[/name] is quite pretty.
I love it! Underused classic for sure. I also think of [name]Laura[/name] Ingalls [name]Wilder[/name] right away, but I also grew up with a few Lauras, so it doesn’t sound too old-fashioned to my ears. I don’t think it needs to be jazzed up- it’s lovely on its own.
[name]Laura[/name]'s a fairly common classic in my area. I knew a great-grandmother named [name]Laura[/name] who recently passed away; one of my sister’s best friends is [name]Laura[/name] (mid-teens); I know a little girl who is around 8 or so named [name]Laura[/name]. With [name]Laura[/name] Ingalls [name]Wilder[/name] in the mix, it just seems classic. I find it a bit bland (probably because I keep hearing that it spiked a couple decades ago), but it is a nice name. I do prefer [name]Laurel[/name], personally, though.
[name]Laura[/name] is extremely dated to me. I much prefer [name]Lara[/name] and [name]Laurel[/name].
I think it’s kinda both. Underused classic and dated. It feels a bit 70s to me. But I think with a little dusting off it could be really nice. It just needs some new blood under it, some feisty baby Lauras, to resurrect it.
I think it does suffer from a lack of good nicknames tho.
[name]Laura[/name] is common and dated.
Prefer [name]Laurel[/name], then [name]Laura[/name], lastly [name]Lauren[/name].
It’s definitely timeless in that I could imagine an older woman (50s-ish) with the name as well as a younger girl (10 or younger). People have commented that [name]Laura[/name] is “bland.” I feel like it does kind of get forgotten. I will say this, [name]Laura[/name] has more staying power than [name]Lauren[/name]. [name]Laura[/name] was a classic back in the early 20th century before [name]Lauren[/name] arrived in the 30s. While [name]Lauren[/name] spiked in the 80s and then faded, [name]Laura[/name] has quietly been there all the time. It kind of reminds me of [name]Sarah[/name] or [name]Anna[/name]. You can be sure that it won’t ever go out of style. Is it my favorite name? No. But it has a timeless quality that I can appreciate.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Laura[/name]!
I like [name]Laura[/name]! I think it is underused, as well as a classic.
I love [name]Laura[/name]! I know a few (4, I think), but they’re all in their early 20s. I’d say it’s definitely an under-appreciated classic, but it does have a slightly dated feel (similar to [name]Louisa[/name]/[name]Louise[/name], maybe?).
[name]Laura[/name] is a beautiful, timeless name. Its a perfect choice because everyone knows it but it is not overly popular.
I love [name]Laura[/name]! Definitely an underused (and strong) classic. It’s a name that I can picture on girls of different ages.
Agree with most other PPs. [name]Laura[/name] is definitely classic, pretty and underused and a really lovely name! I can’t see it as dated because it’s the kind of classic that’s always been used. [name]Laurel[/name] is ok, but I’d steer clear of [name]Lauren[/name] which really does seem dated to the 80s/90s.
