Thought we had THE name, but now we're not too sure... In a rut!

(sorry in advance if this is too wordy!)

For a while my husband and I were set to name our little girl [name_f]Rio[/name_f], but now we are questioning whether it’s the right choice! We have come up with a few more names we like, but we are just not sure if we love any.

[name_f]Quinn[/name_f]
[name_f]Skylar[/name_f]/[name_f]Skyler[/name_f]/[name_f]Schuyler[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - my great grandmother’s name, probably would use as a middle vs first)
[name_f]Camryn[/name_f] - we both are not fans of trendy unnecessary Y’s in names, but we both really dislike the traditional spelling of [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]
[name_f]Freyja[/name_f] - for my Scandinavian decent
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Robin[/name_f] - husband said this out of the blue yesterday. I am kind of indifferent to it, but it’s ok
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]

I am of Scandinavian/Anglo-[name_m]Saxon[/name_m] decent, and husband is Argentinean being the first generation born in the US. We’d like something both sides of the family can easily pronounce since my family has difficulties pronouncing my step-son’s name ([name_m]Alessandro[/name_m]).Here are some name qualities we both agree on:
[ul]

[/ul]

We have made the decision to not tell anyone her name until she is born (to avoid negative comments), so we haven’t had anyone to talk to this about. Any input is appreciated by both of us!

[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] Vie

I know it s out there bit it so goes with your surname!

I actually really like [name_u]Rio[/name_u]!

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] is my favorite followed by [name_f]Willow[/name_f].

I like [name_u]Rio[/name_u]. It’s reallt cute and sweet. My other picks from your list would be [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] or [name_f]Willow[/name_f] - both very lovely.

What about…
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]

I like Freyja, [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] ” and they go well with your lastname. I also like [name_f]Willow[/name_f] but [name_f]Willow[/name_f] Vie sounds wrong to me.

[name_u]Skylar[/name_u] is just too harsh/“agressive” after a beautiful and smooth lastname like yours.
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] seems out-dated to me.
I don’t see [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] with your lastname.

Of the names on your current list, I like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_f]Willow[/name_f], and Freyja the best, although I would probably go with the [name_f]Freya[/name_f] spelling if you want a name that both families can pronounce on sight. As for new suggestions, [name_f]Luna[/name_f] seems like it hits most of what you want in a name, minus the nickname thing, but [name_f]Luna[/name_f]'s so short that most people probably wouldn’t try to nickname her. Some other possible space-related choices are [name_u]Vega[/name_u], [name_f]Selena[/name_f]/[name_f]Selene[/name_f]/[name_f]Celine[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_u]Vesper[/name_u], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], and [name_f]Esther[/name_f]/[name_f]Estella[/name_f]/[name_f]Estelle[/name_f].

I forgot [name_u]Rio[/name_u], I think it is cute, but I thought it was a boy name.

[name_f]Jade[/name_f]

I like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] & [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is nice! Personally, I do not like [name_u]Rio[/name_u]. For some reason [name_f]Sonia[/name_f] came to mind - in my opinion it’s a beautiful underused name. As for other nature names, I also like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_u]Sorrel[/name_u]. [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] means [name_u]Elm[/name_u], which I like. I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Estelle[/name_f].

I actually love [name_u]Rio[/name_u]. So cute!

I also like [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. I know you said [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] for the middle name, but what about [name_u]Rio[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]? Or even [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_u]Rio[/name_u]?

My favourite from your list is [name_f]Iris[/name_f] - simple, elegant and lovely. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is gorgeous too.

I love the name [name_u]Rio[/name_u] it’s adorable

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] but as a middle
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]/[name_u]Skyler[/name_u]/[name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] - Prefer [name_u]Skyler[/name_u]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u], such a sweet name
[name_u]Camryn[/name_u] - not a fan of
Freyja - I really like it but I prefer [name_f]Freja[/name_f] it’s the most common spelling in [name_u]Sweden[/name_u]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] (I love the trees; weeping willows)
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] - For me it’s more of a boys name maybe [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] (as the Swedish singer)
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u], very elegant

Sorry for the mega long list!

I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f] - beautiful meaning too

I personally prefer more feminine names for girls, but [name_u]Rio[/name_u] is a very cool name for a girl, and not too out there. What are your concerns?
My other fav from your list is [name_f]Freya[/name_f], I prefer this spelling.
[name_u]Rio[/name_u] makes me think of other names you might like- [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Clio[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], or other water names- [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_u]Lake[/name_u], [name_f]Oceane[/name_f].
Good luck!

I think a longer name would be nice with your short surname. I like the previous suggestions of [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] or [name_f]Elowen[/name_f].

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is definitely my favourite from your list, particularly with your surname  It’s beautiful  I actually really like [name_u]Rio[/name_u], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] are lovely.

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Rio[/name_u] as a name, mainly because that’s where the Olympics will be held this summer, and I’d hate for you/you daughter (when she is older) to always get questions about if she was named after the Olympics or something. But I also think you have better options on your list.

I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] for you guys!

I actually [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] that you suggested this! I have always been slightly obsessed with rainbows (our wedding was rainbow themed) and she will have a rainbow above her crib

We both like this one  I wouldn’t mind family calling her [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] in a cutesy way, in that sense a nickname seems ok. My mother has been suggesting it too, thanks!

I’ve thought about this too, especially since my sister in law almost qualified for an event! [name_m]Even[/name_m] with the negative connotations with the country right now, I still can’t help but like it
