thoughts about Annaline

The other night this name just popped into my head, unsure why. Not sure if Annaline, Analine (prounced slightly different), or Anneline looks best. I know made-up names are not well liked but I am charmed by this one. What are your honest opinions on this name? What spelling do you prefer?

Honestly, the word ‘anal’ immediately jumped out at me :(. Especially Analine, I’m sorry but that looks like the name for a hemorrhoid cream or something.

Annaline is better but I still get similar vibes.

Anneline is super charming and sweet. That gets my vote! [name_f]Annelise[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] are on my list so no wonder I love it.

I like Annaline and Anneline, but Analine does look like a medicine for something to do with the downstairs backdoor region! I’m a big fan of [name_f]Annalise[/name_f], similar to Annaline, so I can see the charm.

I like Annaline/Anneline! It sort of looks like a smoosh of [name_f]Anne[/name_f] and the Danish [name_f]Eline[/name_f], or something of that nature. I rather think it’s cool; it’s a wonder it’s not a legitimate name! I would love to meet a little Annaline or Anneline. I think Annelien is a legitimate Dutch name (said [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-leen, I think?), and I would be so excited to meet a little one with that name, too!

Thank you, everyone.

Eoxima, I had to laugh at your statement “something to do with the downstairs backdoor region”.

[name_u]Ashley[/name_u], I was quite surprised that it was not already a name.

I think I prefer the Anneline spelling. It gives off a bit more charm in my opinion. Seriously thinking about it as a first name, was only considering it a middle name before.

Anneline (this spelling) has a really soft and sweet ring to it. And because there are so many [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-smoosh names, it has a familiar sound. Cute choice!

I prefer the [name_f]LINE[/name_f] pronunciation; same with [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], etc.

I tried to do a little research and did not come across anything. I really do find it hard to believe that it is not a name already. I will have to do more research.

I never heared it before. It’s pretty.

I’m pretty sure this is already a name! I’m Dutch and about 20/30 years ago names like Anneline were a pretty big thing here, maybe not the exact name, but it was surely being done, there were so many “smoosh” names starting with [name_f]Anne[/name_f]- or ending with -lien or -line, you could tack them onto pretty much everything hehe. I think it was mostly done as a fresher way to use old honor names like [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Maria[/name_f] (there’s a lot of smooshes starting with [name_f]Mar[/name_f]- as well), [name_f]Lina[/name_f], etc. One of my primary school teachers was actually called Anneline. We have a database site with numbers of how many times names are given and there’s 277’s Annelien’s in “existence” (+ it’s used 137 times as a middle) 29 Anneline’s (+ 33 times as a middle), and a few Annalien’s and Annaline’s as well. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

It pretty, I’ve never heard it before. I like the spelling Annaline best. I am pronouncing it An-uh-line not an-uh-leen is that correct?

Thank you for this information.

Yes, I prefer the [name_f]LINE[/name_f] pronunciation.

The only thing I can find about the Anneline spelling is [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_f]Line[/name_f], who was an English martyr that was executed during the reign of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] I for harbouring a priest. As it’s the first thing that comes up once Anneline is googled, you’ve probably seen it yourself, but I thought this was pretty neat.

Also, when I googled Annaline it said it was an English girls name meaning ‘gracious torch’ (Annaline - Meaning Of Annaline, What Does Annaline Mean?). Apparently, less than 5 girls were given the name in 2013.

This link (Annaline - Meaning of Annaline, What does Annaline mean?) says the name is pronounced AE-NAHLAHN and a variant of Annalynn, which is totally different to your own pronunciation. Interesting I guess, the name has many pronunciations. This link also says Annaline means ‘from the graceful lake’, so I guess the meaning isn’t clear.

Thank you for this information.

I like the ae-nah-lahn pronunciation also. I think, at least here, that spelling would not get that pronunciation. I would think it would need to be spelled Anneleine, like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. I am actually fond of that spelling also. Now I am unsure if I prefer Anneline (an-ah-line) or Anneleine (an-ah-lehn).

I really do like Anneleine!
