Is [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] with a long i at the end or short i?

I would pronounce it Av-uh-leen.

I love [name_f]Verity[/name_f] nicknamed [name_u]True[/name_u]! That is such a cool nickname. I think [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Sara[/name_f] would be nicer though, without a hyphen.

I like both combos. Not crazy about nn [name_f]Vela[/name_f] but like nn Vee. I think [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] stands out fine against [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].

I love aveline but not so much the nick name or the middle your paired it with, so I went with Varity. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are beautiful!

I like both names a lot! [name_f]Verity[/name_f] is on my short list for baby #4 and [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] is my oldest daughters middle name. I don’t like any of the nicknames at all but in general I am not a fan of nicknames.

I just do not like hyphenated middle names and prefer [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] with an h.

[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] sounds to me like a factory or product. Sorry.

Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of hyphenated middle names either! But they are family names and we need to use the middle name purely for honor name reasons - we don’t have a ton of choice in the middle name.

My main issue/concern is how the first name goes/flows.

I’m surprised at the number of people who are voting on the poll that they don’t like either name. I would have thought both names are popular on this site. Is it the middle name that is throwing so many off? I apologize - I should have just included the 1st name for voting purposes…

I think they’re both lovely. [name_f]Verity[/name_f] is gorgeous, classic, recognised but uncommon. [name_u]True[/name_u] is sweet as a nickname (and beautifully subtle).

I would personally pronounce [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] as ay-vuh-line, so I would imagine you’d have some difficulty. It’s beautiful and has several lovely origins, but it still sort of looks trendy even though I know it’s not.

[name_f]Verity[/name_f] is a clear winner.

I like [name_f]Verity[/name_f] nn [name_f]Vera[/name_f]. “[name_u]True[/name_u]” is a little campy for my tastes.

I also think if you pronounced it [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-vuh-leen that would be prettier, and give you the nn [name_u]Avi[/name_u] (pronounced [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-vi).
