I love the name [name]Elliot[/name] for a boy, but I had tossed the idea out for this boy because our last name is two syllables, starting with “Hel”. I won’t write it here, but it is similar to Hellvick.
But then I started to reconsider. Is this really so bad? What does everyone think about [name]Elliot[/name] Hellvick? Too many “el” sounds? Is it a mouthful?
Also, I know there are several acceptable spellings, but how would YOU spell the name?
I think it could work with your surname, definitely. [name]Elliot[/name] “Helvick” is very cute. As is [name]Louisa[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name].
I prefer the [name]Elliot[/name] spelling, obviously–[name]Eliott[/name] just looks imbalanced to me; [name]Eliot[/name]'s not complete enough; and while I like [name]Elliott[/name] second best, it still seems like there’s an extra letter in there. [name]Elliot[/name] just looks perfect to me, not frilly, not incomplete, just strong and masculine and perfect.
I also prefer the [name]Elliot[/name] spelling. [name]Elliott[/name] looks like too many letters, and [name]Eliot[/name] looks like it should be a separate name. [name]Elliot[/name] Helvick is fine. I like it.
I know a woman named [name]Elliott[/name], so I think of the double-t spelling as being more feminine, like [name]Babette[/name]. That may just be my personal association. [name]Elliot[/name] Hellvick- sure. I don’t think it’s too rhymey, but if you want to downplay the “hell” part of your last name, something that doesn’t rhyme at all might be better.
You’ve put my thoughts into words perfectly, so I second every word of the above. [name]Elliot[/name] is a great name, it has been one of my faves for years. I also don’t think [name]Elliot[/name] Helvick is too rhymey. Go for it!
I think [name]Elliot[/name] sounds fine with a surname such as yours. It’s a strong, classic name, and it sounds good with [name]Louisa[/name]. I prefer to spell it [name]Elliot[/name], because it looks nice and balanced with that spelling.
I think [name]Elliott[/name] is fine with your last name. I really prefer [name]ELLIOTT[/name]. It might just be the spelling I’m used to but both [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Eliot[/name] feel incomplete.
I love [name]Elliot[/name]! I think it sounds find with your LN and great with [name]Louisa[/name]! The [name]Elliott[/name] spelling is too much for me and is the LN version rather than the FN. I love [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Eliot[/name] both equally. I prefer [name]Eliot[/name] if you were ever going to call him [name]Eli[/name] but I think both of those work equally well
I agree with everything being said: It would sound fine with your last name, it would be cute with sister [name]Louisa[/name], and you should use the [name]Elliot[/name] spelling. Congrats! =]
