Me and my husband have a really hard time to find a name that we both like and that feel is right for our first baby, a girl.
My husband is really fond of [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Lana[/name_f], but they just do not feel right to me. Below are a couple of names that I like:
[name_f]Orli[/name_f] (husband does not like it at all)
[name_f]Orielle[/name_f] (My husband does not like [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], but I do not know his thoughts on this one. I like it because it feels like it combines [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] and [name_f]Orli[/name_f])
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] (not totally shut down by husband)
[name_f]Laila[/name_f]/[name_f]Leila[/name_f]/[name_f]Lila[/name_f] (will not be the name, but I always liked it and we might use it as a middle name. My grandmothers name was [name_f]Laila[/name_f] and it reminds me about my heritage and where I come from since it is a very popular name where I grew up)
We both seem to like [name_f]Enya[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Everly[/name_u], but none of them are our top choices.
After analyzing all the names i have on my very extensive list of names I came across in the last couple of months it looks like me and my husband both favors short names that includes the letter L.
Any thoughts on the names so far or any other names that come into mind. I would love to find a name similar to [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] or [name_f]Lana[/name_f] that I like as well since my husband is so fond of them. Any ideas?
Any thought on the following names as well:
Kenli
[name_f]Leora[/name_f]
[name_f]Kelsi[/name_f]
Korli
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
Of the names you mentioned, I like:
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Enya[/name_f], [name_f]Leora[/name_f], [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] best of your list. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] has grown on me somewhat, but it still kind of reminds me of The [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] Letter and, similarly, its rhyme with the word “harlot.” The others, I’m not a big fan of personally.
Have you ever heard the name [name_f]Cleora[/name_f]? It’s quite similar to [name_f]Leora[/name_f], but with the beginning sound of [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] - and you can use [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] as a nickname, which is adorable and also sounds a lot like [name_f]Chloe[/name_f]!
Other names you may like:
[name_f]Clarity[/name_f] (has the same beginning as [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], with the three-syllable sound of [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and [name_u]Everly[/name_u])
[name_f]Louise[/name_f] (really vintage and pretty L-name)
[name_f]Luna[/name_f] (similar to [name_f]Lana[/name_f], but a bit more modern)
Have you considered [name_f]Lena[/name_f] at all? She seems to fit with your style. [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is another name that feels like it fits really well with the rest of your list. As far as the new list goes I like all except for [name_f]Kelsi[/name_f], Korli, and Kenli, they are really trendy compared to the rest of your list. Instead what about [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] or [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]? or [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] or [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Cassia[/name_f]? [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], maybe? Or how about [name_f]Candra[/name_f]?
Thanks everyone so far for your thoughts and for your suggestions. Below are some of the thought I have on the names you have suggested.
[name_f]Luciana[/name_f]: Reminds me of [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] which is a name I love. But since I am Swedish I do not see it as a good fit. [name_f]Every[/name_f] year we celebrate St. [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] in december and I do not want my daughters classmates/friends to make fun of her name because of it.
[name_f]Clarity[/name_f]: The likeness [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_u]Everly[/name_u] is really striking! Worht to suggest to my husband
[name_f]Cleora[/name_f]: This name is so cute! But one of my husbands friends named their daughter [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]. The likeness it to big.
[name_f]Allanah[/name_f]: I like that this name has the name [name_f]Lana[/name_f] in it and that it is somewhat longer. Gets another ring to it. I have to see what my husband thinks.
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]: I suggested this name to my husband before. he does not like it
[name_f]Lea[/name_f]: used to be on both my husbands and my list. But my husband does not like it anymore for some reason.
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]: My sister is planning on naming her daughter [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. I do not want to steal a possible nn from her.
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f]: Like it
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]: My aunts name unfortunately. Have another aunt with the name [name_f]Lilian[/name_f] that I also like!
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]: It sounds to “Hippy/Hipster” to me.
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]: Like it
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]: Reminds me of [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] actually. Maybe my husband could like this one.
I hate that it is so hard to pick a name. Some days I just want to break down and cry!! It feels like we never are going to find our daughter a name that we both can agree on and love. I know that we eventually will find one, but I always had a really hard time to decide things. I am afraid that I eventually will give up and let my husband choose whatever name he loves just because I cannot deal with this anymore. I am scared of ending up hating the name that gets picked. t I always thought that picking names for our baby wold be the fun part.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Livh I know exactly what you are feeling here as I feel the same! It is so hard to get my SO to discuss any names! He feels it too much pressure!
[name_m]Reading[/name_m] this post, I also responded immediately to [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]! Its a cool fusion of [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Orli[/name_f]!
Me and my husband just went over all the names we had on our list and it was a though process. Especially for me since I am the one who has been doing most of the name searching. A lot of my suggestions got shut down entierly. However, we are now at lest down to a couple of names that we can somewhat agree on. Our top 6 are:
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] (This is the one we can agree on the most)
[name_f]Orli[/name_f] (my favorite)
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] (husbands favorite)
Minelle
[name_f]Lana[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
It looks like my theory about the letter L holds at least.
Right now I have a hard time seeing that we will go for either [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] or [name_f]Orli[/name_f]. I am not to fond of [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and my husband is not to fond of [name_f]Orli[/name_f].
We will see how things play out eventually. I think it’s best that we wait to meet the little one before we make a final decision. But it’s frustrating to not have maybe 3 names that we can agree entirely on. If we had that I would feel more relaxed about the naming situation.
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] would be a good combination. Could you use [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and a combination of [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Orli[/name_f]?
