[name_f]Robyn[/name_f] is such a sweet name!

My personal favourites from your list are [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] (in that order).

Without knowing what your surname is, it’s hard to say how jarring [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is with it, but my suspicion is that it’s not as bad as you think if names like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] work. I really like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] for you because of its sweet, strong vibe and subtle nature connection to big sis’ name. [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] would be my picks.

[name_f]Kate[/name_f] is perhaps a little plain next to [name_f]Robyn[/name_f], but it’s such a smart, strong, timeless classic that suits all ages, appearances and personalities. [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] would be a fun combo!

[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] is another strong, timeless choice, but a little more unexpected than [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. I personally prefer the feisty literary heroine [name_f]Tess[/name_f], but I’m a big fan of standalone nicknames and I know [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] feels more “complete” to some. [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] would be lovely.

Going against what I just said… [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] are a bit too nicknamey for me; I’d prefer them short for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I think it’s the -sie ending that just tips this type of nickname name over into “cutesy” territory. Still, both are fairly popular where I live so they’re certainly doable as full names, just not my personal style. I’d use solid, serious [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] in the middle to balance things out.

Suggestions:

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (could also be a nod to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f])
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]/[name_f]Cassie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Carys[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_u]Sorrel[/name_u]
[name_f]Fern[/name_f]

Quite a few beauties!
With your princesses name (will call her R for your privacy), I prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] as it get a small sibling match of both having a ‘y’ and other than [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] seems to grab your heart more. Not too sure of how your last name is but depending on syllable emphasis and separation it could work really well. Plus maybe it is my tired head but [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] emphasis is more on ‘V’…? If that is still a major issue [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is just as stunning, the only reason I personally don’t have it on my list is that I want more variants in sibling endings and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] or [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is most likely definite.

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] too. But is there a reason why R was not named this?

I dislike [name_u]Josie[/name_u] next to Rs’ name as it feels more like a modern nickname name.
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is a beautiful name but I do feel with it being close to a variant of [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] that it might spike in popularity by quite alot. I like the Rs’ name is not as popular yet known and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] have that appeal (at least to me with my knowledge)

[name_f]Kate[/name_f] although I could be biased and love it seems to be a tad flat next to Rs name.

I would personally love seeing these name combos [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f]

[name_u]Love[/name_u] your choices! [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] would be my top choices for you

Thanks everyone! Your suggestions are great and give me lots to think about!
I really like and have previously short-listed [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f]! Hubby has vetoed most at some point (maybe not [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]?), but he also initially vetoed [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] as being an old-lady name, yet over months I seem to have worn him down on that one so much that [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] were the other options we weighed up in the post-natal ward after R was born… so maybe I should reconsider some of them! There might be hope yet.

I love [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] (and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]) but they’re just a bit too popular for me at the moment.

[name_f]Carys[/name_f] and [name_u]Sorrell[/name_u] are names I’d never considered but really like. Unfortunately I don’t think [name_u]Sorrell[/name_u] would work because surname begins with L so the names kind of run onto each other. I’ll chat with hubby about [name_f]Carys[/name_f].

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] sounding too nick-namey and just generally not being a stylistic fit with R’s name is a really good point to think about.

So you think [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] is usable in the middle? It feels very different to the rest, reminds me of some names I don’t much like (Jontay, [name_f]Desiree[/name_f]), and doesn’t seem very popular. But I love that it means thunder and kind of like it.

I wasn’t sure why it had dropped off… but re-discussing with hubby it seems like he’s not that keen on it after all :-/
