[name_u]Baby[/name_u] #2 is set to arrive any day now and we are struggling with a final decision. Big brother is [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. We have narrowed the first name down to [name_m]Henry[/name_m] or [name_u]Owen[/name_u], and will probably wait until we meet him to see which name fits better. The only middle names that we have found that we like with our first name choices are [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u]. Something about the flow of [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u] seems off to me, so I don’t really like that combo. Hubby thinks its fine.
Given the following options, which do you all think sounds the best? Thoughts/feedback about our choices would be greatly appreciated.
I’m open to other middle name suggestions as well, if you have any ideas that seem to fit our style. We tend to be drawn to word names vs. more traditional names in the middle spot.
I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] the best - [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] would be the best, but he isn’t born in [name_u]August[/name_u], so I don’t like it.
I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] would make an adorable sibset! My vote goes to [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u]. I don’t think the fact that he’s not due in [name_u]August[/name_u] should have any bearing on your opinion of the name. There are plenty of girls named [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]April[/name_f], and [name_u]June[/name_u] who aren’t born in those months, after all…
I prefer [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. This may make no difference, but where I’m from [name_m]Jack[/name_m] can be a nn for [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Maybe it’s just a strange variation in my neck of the woods? Either way, I think [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u] is lovely.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] or [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u]. Both [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] are great with [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. All 3 would be great together too!
There seems to be a pretty even split between [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u], and between the two middle name choices for [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Which pretty much is exactly what we have been struggling with too…ugh. I guess that must mean that they are all good options. It does look like [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u] is the definite favorite [name_u]Owen[/name_u] combo. That helps us narrow it down a bit.
I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] or [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u], preference to [name_m]Henry[/name_m] because I’m tired of the name [name_u]Owen[/name_u]!
I like Henry more than Owen. I don’t mind August I’m just not a fan of Atlas.
What about these middle names.
Henry Rider
Henry River
Henry Jet
Henry Knox
Henry Forest
Henry Lincoln
Henry Oak
Henry Blaze
Henry Miller
Henry Abbott
Henry Ace
Henry Archer
Henry Beckett
Henry Maddox
Henry Leo
Funny, I had [name_m]Knox[/name_m] on a middle name list months ago but hubby was iffy about it, so we scratched it. Seeing [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] paired together makes me really like it again! Does the “N” sound in both names make for an awkward flow??
I think it sounds fine, although it also depends how it all sounds together with your surname. I have M in my first name and middle starts with M, it flows fine.
I know you like [name_u]Owen[/name_u] as a first name, but have you considered it as a middle name with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] as the first name? ‘[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u]’ flows really nicely. If not, I think [name_u]August[/name_u] works well with both, but [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] suits [name_m]Henry[/name_m] a bit better than it does [name_u]Owen[/name_u].
This had not occurred to me! You are totally right though, and I think this may have just pushed [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] into the lead.
