[name]Just[/name] wondering what your thoughts and impressions of the name Belisante is for a girl- pronounced [name]BELL[/name]-ih-sent. It has many other forms including Belsante, Belisente, Belisant/Belisent and Bellicent. Meaning is somewhat disputed- seems that is considered Old French/English ([name]Norman[/name]). Some think it is a medieval pet form of [name]Isabel[/name], while others think it may be closer in relation to [name]Millicent[/name]. Thanks for thoughts!
It’s okay, but I was somewhat disappointed that it is pronounced the way it is. When I saw it, I thought it would be [name]Bell[/name]-ih-SANT-ay. However, it has some cute nicknames like [name]Belle[/name], Lissy and [name]Izzy[/name].

I think it would be said “ahnt” at the end, similar to santé or Nantes if it’s French, sente also sounds similar in French so I can’t see it having an “ent” sound and I dont think it would be related to Isabel or related names. I think the name is divided either between belis/ante or beli/sante
I would have to think more about the meaning because it could mean a number of things, it could have to do with Bélis, a commune in France or health (sante) if it’s French but who knows? Maybe it’s Latin and the “ante” part means “before”?
It has a nice sound but I don’t care for it, it sounds like a beauty product or wine except it’s somehow familiar and I think the obvious is escaping me.
I wouldn’t have guessed that pronunciation. I immediately thought it was “ahnt” or “ahn-tay” at the end. I think I’d like it better if it were spelled something like “Belisent”…maybe.
I think it is very pretty. However, I think if you are going to be pronouncing it [name]BEL[/name]-ih-sent, you should spell it Bellicent. I don’t know if you have seen this, but here is a post on the name on Bewitching Names:
It sounds very different yet familiar somehow, would make a quirky middle name. Not sure if a girl would actually want it as a first name.
When I searched for an actual French pronunciation it seems it would be pronounced more like bell-EE-zahnt -which I think sounds beautiful also- not too many words sound ugly in French though. The spelling of “Belisante” is stated be an anglicization of the French name (though not sure of the original French version then). In English speaking countries the last syllable would come out sounding more like SENT than SAHNT. I did see the post from “bewitching names” and have tapped out my internet resources looking for a real meaning.
Really want to find out its true root and meaning. Thanks for the thoughts.

It sounds romantic and picaresque. I like the prn. bell-EE-zahnt better than bell-IH-sent.
I think it’s pretty and intriguing.
