First of all, thank you all for your patience in helping me narrow down middle names for this baby, if it is a girl. I hate bugging you guys with new threads every so often, but it was genuinely stressing me out. So thank you for being along for the ride, lol.
My carefully-constructed list from my last post went out the window pretty fast. DH really only cares for more modern girl names, where I really like more old-fashioned ones. I got frustrated because I don’t want our baby’s name to be something that only one of us likes. I finally suggested [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]…and he LOVES it.
I sadly can’t say there is much meaning behind the name. Well, there is but it’s kind of silly. [name_u]Early[/name_u] in our marriage, we used to watch family vloggers on YouTube, called The Cub House vlogs. They were such an amazing family and they had a little girl named [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. That’s where we got the name from.
Anyhow, thoughts on this combo? Does it work? I know [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is considered unisex by now but does it scream “boy” to the extent of this combo not working?
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] sounds fresh and vibrant -it feels artistic and creative with a slight rough and tumble vibe, whilst also sounding girly and gentle! It’s versatile and i really enjoy the sounds
Congratulations [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]!!! This is wonderful news!
I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] works beautifully, especially taking into account your surname! It’s a lovely choice, and feels like a balance between old fashioned (I know of a few instances of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] being used pre-20th century) and modern!xo
I adore [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] for a girl! I’ve only met one [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] who was a girl so I think the name works great for girls (and boys as well!).
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is so sweet yet spunky and I really love the combination. Congrats!
It’s a lovely combination. If I heard of a child called [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] I would assume it was a boy. However, as a middle name to [name_f]Isla[/name_f] there is no doubt that the child is a girl.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is a beautiful mix of modern and traditional, spunky and sweet. I love it! [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] doesn’t scream ‘boy’ to me at all - in fact, the only [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] I’ve ever known was a girl.
I love this combo! It’s super cute and fresh, and I love the combination of the softer [name_f]Isla[/name_f] with the more modern sounding [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. Congrats!
Gorgeous name. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] hits that perfect sweet spot of a modern sound for DH and a name that’s got history and fits right in with other vintage names.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is totally unisex, but it does lean girl to me because the first time I heard it was on a girl.
Overall, it’s a wonderful combo. Pretty and spunky!
