Thoughts/Middle names for Pandora?

I recently fell in love with [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. I think it has a strong, whimsical touch to it, and the Greek mythology behind it is interesting. Her nicknames would be [name_f]Dora[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] might be a bit of a stretch, but I’d still like to use it because it was my grandmother’s name. A possible middle name would be [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], a name i’ve always loved, but I worry that ‘[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]’ sounds too mythical and would be perceived as hipster, trendy, modern, and you-neek. I’d love to hear another person’s thoughts on this.

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is a stretch, and a confusing one at that. What about [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]? The repeated ‘dor’ sound in both doesn’t sound bad at all, imo.

[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] is cute, and I’d love to see someone actually use it. As for middles, what kind of names do you generally like? That might help other posters find the best suggestions for you.

[name_f]Pandora[/name_f]'s lovely, I think [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is adorable. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is a confusing nickname for [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], though.

I love [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], but unfortunately will never be able to use it myself because there’s a suburb in the city I grew up in (which I will probably move back to when I’ve finished university), so I really like to see when other people consider it.

While [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is a lovely combo, I worry that it may be a bit too space oriented…[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] is one of [name_m]Saturn[/name_m]'s moons, and when I hear [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] I think celestial, space, stars…which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, heck that could be what you’re going for, I don’t know, and if it is there’s nothing wrong with that. [name_m]Just[/name_m] something to be aware of, I think

In regards to [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]…I think the -dora part would pay tribute to your grandmother enough, rather than going from one full name to a completely separate full name as a nn as that could be a bit confusing…If you’re wanting a nn to honour [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], how about [name_f]Dot[/name_f] or [name_f]Dodie[/name_f]? That way it still ties with [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], but they are nicknames that work easily for both without being a complete name in and of itself…[name_m]Just[/name_m] some food for thought

Middles suggestions:
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_u]Madison[/name_u]
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. I would adore to see a little girl named [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. I do like the nickname Panda, for it. So sweet.

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is a bit of stretch, to me. If you like [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], just use it as a name on its own.

[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is a little bit too mythical for my personal style, but it flows well.

[name_f]Pandora[/name_f]'s been my favourite name for years now, and I still love her. I also love the strength and mythology connection behind the name, and I can honestly imagine a badass, strong willed, passionate girl/woman called [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] who could be a warrior or heroine in a novel. Plus there’s the meaning and abundance of nicknames if that’s your thing. Despite the more commercial associations of the jewellery shop and radio (and possible negative connotations of the myth), I think there’s far more going for [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. I really can’t shake her haha.

In terms of middles, I don’t see anything wrong with [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]. I think the imagery of [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is what makes it so great. It keeps up the whimsical feel, but still sounds powerful and gorgeous. I really like the idea of ‘heavenly’ [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] with ‘All gifted’ [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] :p. I don’t think it’s you-neek, it’s not misspelled or made up looking, and I’d much, much rather meet a child with an interesting but beautiful name like [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] than another [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f] (nothing against those names, just examples of popular names in general). It’s different, but in a good way.

I don’t see a why [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is a stretch but [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] isn’t. I think it’s fine as Dor is there. Yes it may be it’s own name but if it has meaning, I think it’s a cute nn.

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] are not nicknames for [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. If you want to call her [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] or [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], name her [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] or [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f].

[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is a bit out there, but it’s not a bad choice. [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] feels very wearable to me. I think it balances [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] nicely.

I agree that [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] are a bit of a stretch. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] means gift, [name_f]Dora[/name_f] means gift. Calling her [name_f]Dora[/name_f] would honour [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] well enough and make more sense.

[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is very pretty.
I met a little girl called [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] once and I’ve always wondered why it hasn’t been used more!

While [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] as a nickname bothers me enough, [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is absolutely a no-go, to me. It’s a name in its own right, with it’s own well-rooted history dating back to medieval times, and usage far more often than [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. It’s also not related to [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] in the slightest, so it really seems a bit like grasping at straws to use as a nickname.

[name_f]Dora[/name_f], [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], etc. are all nicknames for [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] that also work for [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is a lovely choice, but please, don’t nickname her [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f].

I love that you are hoping to use [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], as it has cute nicknames, and should be used again. I personally love [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Celine[/name_f] and [name_f]Selene[/name_f] as middle names. [name_f]Selene[/name_f] does have a different meaning, but another lovely one: “moon”. I think these names work beautifully as middle names, although they are certainly strong enough for firsts - but they flow well with many others. [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is stunning.
