Thoughts on a Newbie's List?

Hello! I’m new here but I’ve been a lover of names since I was a little girl, and after all this time I’ve finally decided to join the nameberry community! I’ve come to this site dozens of times over the years to help me form my list, I figured it’s about time I actually join!

Quick intro: My name is AJ, I’m in my late 20’s, and still living the single life but continuing on with my list of future baby name hopefuls. I’ve been coming up with baby names since I first fell in love with the name “[name_f]Krystal[/name_f]” as a child. I have been curating this list ever since! It has come a very, very long way and has been lovingly altered through the years to finally become my Top 16! And now I would like to share it with others, outside of my family, and hear everybody’s thoughts and opinions on them. So without further ado…

[name_u]Lynn[/name_u], [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_u]Nichole[/name_u], [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], [name_m]Scott[/name_m], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], and [name_u]James[/name_u] are all very personal names that I’ve pulled from my life. The rest are all names I’ve stumbled upon and fell in love with over the years. Some of them I associate with special people, places, or times in my life - but mostly I just love them.

As a side note, I’m also considering spelling [name_f]Makeda[/name_f] as Makaeda as I think it’s easier to figure out the pronunciation with that spelling? I’m not 100% sure though. I’d love thoughts on this name and it’s spelling for sure! It’s a new name to me and one I chose to achieve the NN [name_u]Kody[/name_u] without being one of the usual -kota names, as I’ve always felt they sounded too harsh for a girl. [name_f]Makeda[/name_f] has a beautiful melodic flow to it that stuck out to me immediately, and though it seems a slight stretch, I think the NN [name_u]Kody[/name_u] could still work, and there’s always [name_f]Kady[/name_f] as a backup!

[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to the community!

So I’m guessing you want our opinions.

I’ll start with your girl list
[name_f]Krystal[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]: beautiful, modern name. I like the freshness of [name_f]Krystal[/name_f] and the spelling and then the solid, classic feeling of [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]: I love matchy names. It’s flows so well and the nn [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is adorable.
[name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]: a great, more safe choice. Any kind of girl could wear it
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]: I really like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] but I’m not sure if the combo flows well. Perhaps [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Makeda[/name_f] [name_f]Jaine[/name_f]: I love this name. It’s unique and I love the spellings. Not sure how to pronounce [name_f]Makeda[/name_f] but if it’s Muh-kee-duh then I’d spell it [name_f]Makeda[/name_f] but it’s is Muh-[name_u]Kay[/name_u]-duh then I’d go with the spelling Makaeda. (Sorry if I butchered it)
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]: beautiful, classic, strong name
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]: I really like this. It’s a very pretty, yet boyish in a cute way.

Onto the boys-
[name_u]Evan[/name_u] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]: I adore the name [name_u]Evan[/name_u] (although I prefer [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u] as a nn) and I also like the name [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and will be using it in one of my boy combos too bc it’s my brother’s name. I don’t think they flow well together just because [name_u]Evan[/name_u] ends in n and [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] starts with n. Maybe [name_u]Evan[/name_u] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] or [name_u]Evan[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u].
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]: love this name. It’s strong and a nice, rugged boy name.
[name_m]Connor[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]: in my opinion I don’t think they flow well so maybe [name_m]Connor[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]? But I do like [name_m]Connor[/name_m]- it’s a classic, kinda adventurous name
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_u]Aydan[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]: much different than your other names. I don’t care for [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] on a boy but the name combo flows perfectly.
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]: a great boy name. [name_u]Love[/name_u] all of it
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Everette[/name_m]: I adore the name [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] (I especially like the nn Bash) and I really like [name_u]Everett[/name_u] too but not with an E at the end; it’s seems girly.
[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Orion[/name_u]: totally adorable and masculine at the same time. [name_u]Love[/name_u] love love it! However, I like the nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u] better than Auggie.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

Oh, thank you emmalou! I’m happy to be here!

I love the idea of [name_m]Evander[/name_m] instead of [name_u]Evan[/name_u], but I still adore it combined with [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] has a nice ring to it!
And thank you for your input on [name_u]Everett[/name_u], I hadn’t even considered that the ‘e’ at the end made it look more feminine. Definitely noting that! Thanks for your help

[name_f]Krystal[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]-i quite like it, especially with the nn [name_u]Tully[/name_u], that’s super creative

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] -elegant and classic

[name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_u]Nichole[/name_u] - nms but flows well and work together!

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] -i like the tough, rugged yet gentle feel to this. [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] is unexpected with [name_f]Clara[/name_f]!

[name_f]Makeda[/name_f] [name_f]Jaine[/name_f] -nms but I think [name_f]Makeda[/name_f] could grow on me. It has an interesting sound. [name_f]Kady[/name_f] is a cute nn

[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] -[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] is popular but really sweet and charming and [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is such a lively, bright combo

[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] - this had such a great feel, literary, unexpected and interesting

[name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] - love it. It’s long, yes, but I kind if like that about it. Both names are great

[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] -i admit I’m not a fan of [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], it always sounds a bit icky to me, but there’s nothing actually wrong with it and the combo flows well

[name_m]Connor[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] -strong, sturdy and familiar. Not as interesting as a lot of your choices but a nicely flowing and safe name nonetheless

[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_u]Aydan[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] -I’d prefer the [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] or [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] spelling but I enjoy the combo. It has a mix of classic masculine but also something modern something really soft about it!

[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] -[name_u]Mason[/name_u] is nms, but I love [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]

[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] - wow, love this combo!! Feels fresh and interesting

[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Orion[/name_u] -another amazing combo. Warm, rugged, summery and cool!!

[name_f]Welcome[/name_f]!
I’ll just be honest about your combos, so I hope you don’t think I’m rude.

[name_f]Krystal[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] (NN: [name_u]Tully[/name_u]): I prefer the name spelled [name_f]Crystal[/name_f], but [name_f]Krystal[/name_f] is nice too, and I like the meaning. Not really a fan of [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], but the two names together make a good combo. I love the nickname [name_u]Tully[/name_u].
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] (NN: [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]): I quite like this, [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is a great name, and [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is such a lovely nickname.
[name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_u]Nichole[/name_u] (NN: [name_f]Ava[/name_f]): I’m not a fan of this one, [name_u]Avery[/name_u] has always been more male to me. [name_u]Nichole[/name_u] is alright, but I like [name_u]Nicola[/name_u] a lot better. If [name_u]Nichole[/name_u] has a special personal meaning to you though, then you should definitely keep it.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]: [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is a lovely name. I always get a bit confused about the pronunciation of [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], but that’s probably because I’m not an English native speaker. Both names are fine, but there are too man r’s in this combo, I think.
[name_f]Makeda[/name_f] [name_f]Jaine[/name_f] (NN: [name_u]Kody[/name_u]/[name_f]Kady[/name_f]): Never heard of [name_f]Makeda[/name_f] before, so I looked it up. I love the meaning. [name_f]Jaine[/name_f] is not my style, in this spelling or any other, but it’s a perfectly alright name.
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] (NN: [name_f]Clover[/name_f]): I quite like this, especially [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and the nickname [name_f]Clover[/name_f]. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is on our list too.
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] (NN: [name_f]Lena[/name_f]/[name_u]Layne[/name_u]): love this, definitely my favorite of your girls. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the literary reference of [name_u]Austen[/name_u]. I’d go with the nickname [name_f]Lena[/name_f] or no nickname at all.

[name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] (NN: [name_u]Evan[/name_u]): I like this one, [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] are both lovely names. I’d drop the nickname though, [name_u]Evan[/name_u] takes away a lot of the charm of [name_m]Evander[/name_m].
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]: nothing wrong with this name, but it doesn’t do it for me. I think maybe [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] needs a more daring, less common middle name, like [name_m]Ross[/name_m] maybe.
[name_m]Connor[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]: both good names, but I’d reverse it, [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]Connor[/name_m] sounds better imo.
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_u]Aydan[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]: I’m always happy when I see [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] on a boy. [name_u]James[/name_u] is lovely, but I’m not a fan of [name_u]Ayden[/name_u]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about something else in the middle, like [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_m]Adam[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]? This hasn’t got the best flow either, but I don’t know how much that matters to you.
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] (NN: Ase): nice combo, Ase is a good nickname. I especially like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] (NN: Astian/[name_u]Ashton[/name_u]): love [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], not so fond of [name_u]Everett[/name_u]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about something a bit shorter, like [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] or [name_m]Asher[/name_m]?
[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Orion[/name_u] (NN: Auggie): I really like this one, and Auggie is an adorable nickname.
