I’ve mentioned this in a few of my other threads, but I’ve recently noticed my naming style shift a bit. I’ve really been into adorable vintage and slightly quirky boys names.
My #1 favorite boy name right now is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], so feel free to make up your own combos. [name_m]Just[/name_m] looking for some adorable vintage and quirky names.
I think [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] fits the bill best of adorable/vintage/quirky. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
Most of the rest I don’t find very quirky, but they are very handsome vintage names. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Samson[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] are my faves.
Haha I agree… that’s why I said slightly quirky My boy’s names are definitely not all quirky. I just came up with the combo [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] today and I really am digging it. I agree, it’s quirky and vintage!
I think both of us have similar styles, so I love all of your names! I think all of the combos sound great together… any one of them would work. Since you have your “style” down, now it’s all a matter of personal preference, and what flows well with your last name. I personally love the name [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] as well, [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] (I love [name_m]Yosemite[/name_m], so I would use it because of [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] [name_m]Adams[/name_m]).
With that being said, there are a few names on your list that I like, but for me are very much associated with Hebrew and the bible (which is absolutely fine if you are into that, but for me, I try to stay away from names with strong religious affiliations… although I have always loved the name [name_m]Isiah[/name_m]). For that reason, [name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] aren’t really my favorites.
I know you have [name_f]Olive[/name_f] as a girl’s name, but what about [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] ([name_u]Ollie[/name_u]) for a boy. It sounds super cool to me, and fits in with your style. It also does have the assosiation with [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] Peck, so it makes me think of a name tattooed parents might give their son.
BTW, have you read [name_u]Drew[/name_u] Barrymore’s book??? It is EXCELLENT. She is such a fascinating woman and a great mother. Her daughter’s names are [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]. I know your post is about boys names, but I think unisex girl’s names could really fit in with your style. [name_u]Stevie[/name_u], [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] ([name_u]Max[/name_u]), [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ([name_u]Jo[/name_u]… and [name_u]Jo[/name_u] from [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women OBVIOUSLY was the coolest one), [name_u]Hartley[/name_u], [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_u]Drew[/name_u], [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] ([name_m]Vero[/name_m]), [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], [name_u]Devon[/name_u] etc.
I think we have very similar styles, as well! So, thank youf or always commenting on my threads - it’s always super helpful lol.
I love the name [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] because of [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] [name_m]Adams[/name_m], too! I’m a photographer and he was the first photographer I was inspired by. It’s such a great and totally underused name.
I can definitely see your points on [name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]. My s/o and I decided on [name_m]Samson[/name_m] as a favorite quite some time ago. It all started when he mentioned really liking [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. I really didn’t care for it, but I liked the “[name_u]Sam[/name_u]” sound at the beginning of the name. So, we thought [name_m]Samson[/name_m] was a little more hip sounding and better fit the both of our styles. I still really like it, but I’m realizing more and more the bible association. Neither of us are that religious, so not too sure if I’d ever actually use the name. But nothing has stood out to me enough to replace it. [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] isn’t really a favorite of mine, but my s/o LOVES this name. He talks about it all the time. I’ve been trying to let the name grow on me because his opinion definitely matters. I think I much prefer this name in the middle spot though.
I think [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] as a boys name is adorable, but it is growing quite popular. That turns me off to a bit. Also, it’s one of my sister’s absolute favorite names and I don’t think I’d have the heart to take it for a boy… especially since I am older than her and likely will have children first. Plus, I just found out that my brother-in-law and his wife are naming their baby boy who is due in [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. Kind of makes it unusable for me unfortunately. It also probably means that I won’t ever actually get to use the name [name_f]Olive[/name_f] on a girl either. But I can dream… lol
I have not read [name_u]Drew[/name_u] Barrymore’s book yet… but I totally would - I love her! I also realize that her kid’s names are [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] and I just adore it. Such cute sibling names.
I love so many of your suggestions, especially [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u].
I love all of these, with the exception of [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] (purely because I don’t care for the names - the flow is fine).
PS. Because we have such similar styles, I would love if you checked out my list on babynames.com. The link is in my signature. That is, if you haven’t voted already!
