What do you think of [name]Agnes[/name]? are there better international spellings? Besides [name]Inez[/name]…That’s my middle name and my sisters, and our Grandma’s first name…
[name]Love[/name] [name]Agnes[/name]! I would go with just [name]Agnes[/name], although I do admit an affinity for the French Agnès–pronounced ahn-YESS. I think that’s just so gorgeous, and I like the idea of [name]Annie[/name] or [name]Anya[/name] as a nn for that. I think Agnès nn [name]Annie[/name] just adorable.
I very nearly added [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Violet[/name], nn [name]Annie[/name], to my own list.
I think it is cute. Some people don’t like it but a little girl can make it really cute. I have heard of the name [name]Agnessa[/name] before, which I think is the Russian form. I think it is really pretty, but more elaborate if that is what you like.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Agnes[/name]!! Not sure about any variations, but [name]Agnes[/name] is perfect to me. I second @ashthedreamer’s suggestion of [name]Anne[/name]/[name]Annie[/name] as a nickname. [name]Agnes[/name] is just so classic and upright and vintage and pure and awesome.
I don’t like the name [name]Agnes[/name], it’s one of the least attractive names ever for me.
I do not understand the appeal, all I get from it is [name]Aggy[/name] = Eggy, Aggravated, and just a bunch of whining in my mind. The [name]Ag[/name] sound reminds me of the beginning noises of throwing up.
Yeah…definitely not a fan.
The only saving grace is the nn Ness.
I have loved the name for 8 years (since high school!). Its the name of the heroine in [name]Charles[/name] Dickens ‘[name]David[/name] Copperfield’. [name]Just[/name] the most admirable and sweet character.
I do think it has an old feeling about it. But if you love it who cares. [name]Angus[/name] is exceptionally popular here in Australia, and that sounds so similar. But I think it’s far more daggy than [name]Agnes[/name]
For some reason I had these few variants written here in my name notebook. Avnes, [name]Agnethe[/name], Agnetta. Also Angnessa which a previous poster mentioned. I think it’s lovely.
I like [name]Agnes[/name], and we are strongly considering the Spanish form Inés if this baby is a girl.
[name]Love[/name] it–it’s a classic!
[name]Ines[/name] [name]Pilar[/name]
My middle name is [name]Inez[/name] so is my sisters it was my grandmas name. I have only met 3 other [name]Inez[/name]'s lol
I love [name]Agnes[/name]. At first I was iffy on it, but then I read [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Grey[/name] by [name]Anne[/name] [name]Bronte[/name], and that helped to change my mind. I think it’s super doable for a little girl, and it ages well. I’d also like to second ashthedreamers suggetion of the nickname [name]Annie[/name], and the French variation, Agnès (who was the heroine in [name]Irene[/name] Nemirovsky’s novel, All our Worldly Goods.)
[name]Hope[/name] that helps!
