Thoughts on Aldrin?

It’s a shame that this name hasn’t officially been added to Nameberry yet. For those who might not remember, [name_m]Buzz[/name_m] Aldrin was one of the first men to walk on the moon alongside [name_u]Neil[/name_u] [name_m]Armstrong[/name_m] on NASA’s [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] 11 mission. He is still alive today and continues to advocate for human space exploration. The name itself also has Old English roots, abeit as a surname.

My question to you is do you think Aldrin works as a given name, and does the association with the astronaut come to mind when you see it? If not, what is your first impression of it?

I think it could work as a first name for sure. My first impression when I saw it was that it was a different version of [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], [name_m]Buzz[/name_m] Aldrin did not cross my mind.

I think Aldrin works. It reminds me of [name_u]Alden[/name_u].

I didn’t think of [name_m]Buzz[/name_m] Aldrin and I don’t really care for it as a first name.

Same as the PP.

I think it fits in perfectly fine with today’s trend in boys names.

I like Aldrin a lot. Like you mentioned, I immediately think of [name_m]Buzz[/name_m], but it’s definitely not a bad association. Go for it!
