Thoughts on alliteration

My last name is 3 syllables long & starts with [name]Rose[/name].
So [name]Rosemary[/name] or any [name]Rose[/name] name isn’t doable.

I love so many R names. [name]Ramona[/name] has been a favorite since high school.

In your opinion are all R names out?

I tend to think alliteration is OK but my lns length seems to make it off limits.

Is alliteration ok?

[name]Even[/name] with a long last name?

[name]Rue[/name] Rose_______
[name]Ramona[/name] Rose_______
[name]Raya[/name] Rose_________

I like alliteration names!

I prefer [name]Rue[/name] [name]Rose[/name]---- slightly to [name]Raya[/name] [name]Rose[/name]---- and like both better than [name]Ramona[/name], just for balance with a longer last name and I think [name]Rue[/name] is adorable and underused. All three R names are nice though!

I had a little girl in one of my classes whose name was [name]McKinley[/name] [name]May[/name] M----- …a little bit pushing the alliteration envelope, but I still thought it was fun. Alliteration names just stick in my head really well. My maiden name and first name had the C/K alliteration thing going on and I loved it.

I like them sometimes…I just wonder if 3 syllables is too long a last name to make it work? And somehow having [name]Rose[/name] in there messes up the flow?

I don’t mind them all the times. For example, [name]Rhea[/name] [name]Rose[/name]— ([name]Rhea[/name] said ray-uh like in Greek) is good. [name]Rory[/name] [name]Rose[/name]— would be awful.

[name]Rue[/name] [name]Rose[/name]— isn’t good to me.
[name]Ramona[/name] [name]Rose[/name] — is great to me (even though I strongly dislike [name]Ramona[/name])
[name]Raya[/name] [name]Rose[/name]-- is okay.

Rs are hard so it depends. I dontmind a good alliteration for ex
[name]Maggie[/name] [name]May[/name]
[name]Emma[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Kara[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is lovely
[name]Rayna[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Rue[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is not appealing to me at all
Romeilly [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Rune[/name] [name]Renee[/name]
[name]Rebekkah[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

I love alliterative names, they come off so literary and important-sounding.
I have a feeling what your full LN is and I immediately thought [name]Rowena[/name], [name]Rachel[/name] or [name]Rebecca[/name] would sound great with it, but I don’t think [name]Ramona[/name] would sound bad at all. [name]Raya[/name] and [name]Rue[/name], not so much, and [name]Rue[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is hard to say.

Generally, I like alliterative names very much when the names begin with the same sounds. (There can be exceptions, depending on other variables of the combo.) With your last name, the alliteration of Ramona and other R names that were mentioned sound very nice! However, I think it works best (and sounds classiest) when the first name has multiple syllables so that there are more sounds in between (separating) the two alliterative sounds.

I have a last name a lot like yours. I joke that [name]Roxanne[/name] or [name]Roxana[/name] would be a great name with it - i actually do like the way it sounds, but wouldn’t use it for unrelated reasons.

What about [name]Raquel[/name], [name]Rhianna[/name], [name]Reyna[/name]?

I actually really like alliteration names.

I went to school with a girl called [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Rogers[/name], and I always envied her name. My sister’s name is alliterative (first and last starting with C), and I was a bit jealous of that, too!

I don’t like [name]Rue[/name] [name]Rose[/name]… b/c with I think “word” names are trickier when the name is also alliterative.

I like alliteration. It’s cute.

Sorry, I dislike alliteration names for the most part, I find it rarely sounds good or has flow. Our last name starts with an R so unfortunately R names are out for me.

R is a great letter for alliteration! Of those you listed, [name]Ramona[/name] is my favorite. [name]Rue[/name] is cute but NMS and I don’t care for [name]Raya[/name]. [name]Rachael[/name]/[name]Rachel[/name] is my favorite R name for girls.

Good luck!

My mother had an alliterative name (SS) before she married my father, who also had an alliterative name (RR). Because of that I like them but sometimes they don’t flow really well. I have also loved [name]Ramona[/name] since I was younger (from the [name]Ramona[/name] [name]Quimby[/name] books) but I don’t think [name]Ramona[/name] would work out as much as the others since it is a three syllable name and your surname is three syllables. [name]Rue[/name] sounds the best to me.

I agree with the others that it depends but I usually like it.

I think [name]Ramona[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is adorable!
