Thoughts on / alternatives to "Silvie"?

This is my first post to this forum. We’re due in [name_f]September[/name_f] with a baby - gender unknown! Our first daughter is named [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]. For our second daughter, we really love the name [name_f]Silvie[/name_f], but I have misgivings because of our last name. Our last name is often mispronounced but actually sounds like “swint”. I’m concerned that the combo is a bit much - too singsongy and rhyming.

We’re a fan of classic, not-too-trendy names. The name also has to have a good meaning/origin and cannot be too unusual or hard to pronounce (our last name is already hard enough!). I’ve been set on [name_f]Silvie[/name_f] for so long - I love the sound of the name, its meaning (“from the forest”), and it’s nickname. But because I can’t get my head around the first + last name combo, I’ve been searching non-stop for a name that strikes me as strongly. Other less-than-ideal candidates include:

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] (but it may become too popular with this summer’s “[name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland” movies)
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (but it’s a little long for my tastes)
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f] (but it lacks a strong meaning/origin - just means “maiden”)
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] (much too commonplace and also lacks a strong meaning)

What are your thoughts on [name_f]Silvie[/name_f] + our last name?

Are there any brilliant ideas based on our naming rules that might be an alternative to “[name_f]Silvie[/name_f]”?

Thanks in advance!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about using [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]? It sounds better with your last name. If not, I would use [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I have my own little [name_f]Clara[/name_f], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] was my choice for a second girl. Or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f].

I personally think [name_f]Silvie[/name_f] sounds fine with your last name and you might regret not using the name you really love. She won’t always be called [name_f]Silvie[/name_f]-last-name anyway. As an alternative, [name_f]Silvie[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], which is nice with [name_f]Clara[/name_f].

I like the suggestion of using [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] or [name_f]Silvia[/name_f]. I think the Latin names [name_f]Livia[/name_f] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f] fit nicely with your style. I also suggest [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Avis[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Alicia[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Marina[/name_f].

Thanks all - I think I just needed some confirmation that [name_f]Silvie[/name_f] (or [name_f]Silvia[/name_f], though for some reason I like the sound of it a bit less) didn’t sound completely horrible with our last name. Still mulling it all over…

I love the names [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], and [name_f]Livia[/name_f]! Good options

Additional opinions welcome, please!
