Thoughts on Annie and others?

I’m expecting a girl in a couple weeks. Older brother’s name is jack. Here is our current list. I would very much appreciate some substantial feedback, or just say which is your favorite and which is your least favorite. Thank you!

In random order:

  • [name]Mary[/name] [name]Marla[/name]

  • [name]Estella[/name] [name]Mary[/name]

  • [name]Annie[/name] [name]Marla[/name]

  • [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]

  • [name]Stella[/name] [name]Mary[/name]

  • [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]

  • [name]Mary[/name] [name]Stella[/name]

I know that’s a lot of different combos of the same names. Our last name is 1 syllable. Right now the frontrunner for us is [name]Annie[/name], so the more feedback on that one the better. :). Thanks for your help you lovely opinionated name people!

[name]Annie[/name] sounds like a nick name or pet name to me… I dont particularly like it as a stand alone name… of your list with [name]Annie[/name] I would chose [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]

I absolutely love [name]Annie[/name] but I would use [name]Anne[/name] or [name]Anna[/name] as the first name and call her [name]Annie[/name].

I like [name]Annie[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]…my 4yo daughter is [name]Andie[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]! I also like [name]Marla[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]…or [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Mary[/name].

All lovely options. Good luck!

I like [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name], but would suggest a full name of [name]Anne[/name] with a nickname of [name]Annie[/name]. I have a good friend who is [name]Anne[/name] called [name]Annie[/name], and once she came a broadcast journalist, she felt that [name]Anne[/name] helped her to get ahead professionally (but friends, family still call her [name]Annie[/name]).

I think [name]Annie[/name] is an adorably sweet little name - especially as a sister to [name]Jack[/name]! I love that [name]Annie[/name] is such a familiar name, but I never hear it on little kids, so it probably wouldn’t be terribly popular for her generation. [name]Anneliese[/name], with [name]Annie[/name] as a nn, is on my own list, but I think [name]Annie[/name] can stand just fine on its own. Plus if [name]Anne[/name] can be a full name for [name]Annie[/name], than why couldn’t [name]Annie[/name] choose to be called [name]Anne[/name] if she ever felt like she needed something more “grown up” sounding? My favorite from your list is [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]! I also think [name]Estella[/name] is cute, but I prefer [name]Annie[/name] with [name]Jack[/name]. My least favorite would be [name]Mary[/name].

I love the name [name]Annie[/name], I think it’s gorgeous and it fits nicely with [name]Jack[/name]. However if you did want to think of a more formal name with [name]Annie[/name] as a pet/nick name, I think [name]Eleanor[/name] would be really lovely, and it’s quite a logical fuller form of [name]Annie[/name] because of the ‘an’ in the middle of it! Best of luck - all the names are gorgeous

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Marla[/name] - Too much “mar” in this combo.

[name]Estella[/name] [name]Mary[/name] - This is pretty and you use the nn [name]Stella[/name]

[name]Annie[/name] [name]Marla[/name] - Ok but nothing exciting

[name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - A lot of “ee” sound but not a deal-breaker. It has a spunky charm.

[name]Stella[/name] [name]Mary[/name] - [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] would be a wonderful sibset. FYI - [name]Stella[/name] [name]Maris[/name] is a name often associated with the Virgin [name]Mary[/name].

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - Two classic gems and you could get away with using [name]Annie[/name] for a nickname.

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Stella[/name] - This makes me think of former Beatle [name]Paul[/name] McCartney’s daughters ([name]Mary[/name] the photograher and [name]Stella[/name] the fashion designer). I like the combo myself.

My faves with [name]Jack[/name], I like [name]Estella[/name] [name]Mary[/name], [name]Stella[/name] [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] [name]Stella[/name]. Honorable Mention: [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] if [name]Annie[/name] is your favourite!

I love [name]Annie[/name] and think it’s perfectly acceptable as a stand alone name, it’s very substantial. But yes, [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] is a beautiful combination and you could use the nn [name]Annie[/name].

[name]Jack[/name] and [name]Annie[/name] are brother and sister in the fairly famous [name]Magic[/name] Tree House children’s lit series, if you didn’t already know. It’s not a bad association or anything, but just thought for the sake of full information it’d be good to mention it. I don’t think it’s the sort of thing that would come up super often (especially given no one else here seems to have picked up on it) - it’s not that famous, and also they’re common enough names outside of the series – but it could sometimes.

I am in the preferring nicknames-as-nicknames camp, but I do like [name]Annie[/name]. [name]Mary[/name] is my favorite of the others you’re considering. [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] is my favorite [name]Annie[/name] combo of those you list - pretty adorable actually!

Good luck!

in order of which I like best:

  • [name]Mary[/name] [name]Marla[/name] - I actually like this a lot. It’s striking and yet still very traditional.
  • [name]Mary[/name] [name]Stella[/name] - I prefer this to [name]Stella[/name] [name]Mary[/name], it’s a pretty combo
  • [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - I like this almost as much as [name]Mary[/name] [name]Marla[/name]
  • [name]Annie[/name] [name]Marla[/name] - okay, I like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Marla[/name] and [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] better
  • [name]Stella[/name] [name]Mary[/name] - Not bad, [name]Stella[/name] is okay. Almost sounds like one word though stellamary
  • [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - I like both names but I don’t think they work together. [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Dora[/name]?
  • [name]Estella[/name] [name]Mary[/name] - I really don’t like the name [name]Estella[/name], it feels very sharp and rude almost
  • [name]Mary[/name] [name]Marla[/name] - I like many M MNs with [name]Mary[/name], but [name]Marla[/name] is too close for me. Something like [name]Miranda[/name] would be softer and more appealing to me.
  • [name]Mary[/name] [name]Stella[/name] - I love this.
  • [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - This is nice but I wish it were [name]Anne[/name] or [name]Annika[/name] or something.
  • [name]Annie[/name] [name]Marla[/name] - I prefer [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
  • [name]Stella[/name] [name]Mary[/name] - I prefer [name]Mary[/name] [name]Stella[/name], as its less popular. [name]Stella[/name] gets used a lot as a first and more rarely as a middle to such a traditional classic as [name]Mary[/name].
  • [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - Works okay
  • [name]Estella[/name] [name]Mary[/name] - I’m kind of over [name]Stella[/name] as a first name… [name]Estella[/name] is a little more interesting… but not a lot more. I know fewer little [name]Marys[/name] than little Estellas.

I would do [name]Stella[/name] [name]Amelia[/name].

Wow thanks for your wonderful feedback everyone! Never thought of using [name]Annie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Eleanor[/name]! really love [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] too but there’s a slight hitch and I don’t know if it’s a big deal or not. Our last name starts with H. So her initials would be A.A.H. Hahaha I’m not sure if that is weird or if I’m the only one who would ever notice.

  • [name]Mary[/name] [name]Marla[/name]-- sorry, but I really don’t like the sound of these together

  • [name]Estella[/name] [name]Mary[/name]-- sounds very italian! I like the idea of pairing a spunky first name with a classic middle. Prefer [name]Estella[/name] [name]Marie[/name]

  • [name]Annie[/name] [name]Marla[/name]-- I like [name]Annie[/name] as a nickname, but it’s hard for me to see it as the full first name. not a huge fan of this pairing.Prefer [name]Anne[/name] [name]Marla[/name]

  • [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]-- sorry, but I don’t really like the alliteration and it doesn’t seem to flow

  • [name]Stella[/name] [name]Mary[/name]-- I like [name]Stella[/name] better than [name]Estella[/name], the flow isn’t great though. I’d love [name]Stella[/name] [name]Marie[/name]

  • [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]-- I really like these names separately, but don’t really like them together

  • [name]Mary[/name] [name]Stella[/name]-- this one has the best flow, but I’m not crazy about [name]Mary[/name]…

Suggestions: [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Stella[/name] [name]Marie[/name], [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Anne[/name], [name]Marla[/name] [name]Estelle[/name]

I really really love [name]Annie[/name]! [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] is my fav of your combos, and then [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]. [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] is the right combo of spunk and classic elegance. I could also go for [name]Mary[/name] [name]Amelia[/name], esp if you called her by both names, but then as a southerner, I seem to have a thing for double names.

I like [name]Estella[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name]. [name]Both[/name] classic, beautiful names.

[name]Annie[/name] is adorable! I love it, and I absolutely adore [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Annie[/name] as siblings. I wouldn’t use just [name]Annie[/name], though, I think something like [name]Anne[/name], [name]Anais[/name], [name]Anneliese[/name], [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Annika[/name], etc., would age better, and I think [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Annie[/name] sound really good together still. Have you considered [name]Anne[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name], nn [name]Annie[/name]? I think that’d be fabulous!

If you’d just use [name]Annie[/name], then [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] would get my vote. I love [name]Eleanor[/name], and I think [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] are great together.

Good luck!

Totally agree with [name]Ashley[/name]'s comments above-- [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Annie[/name] are great together, but use a longer proper name and have [name]Annie[/name] as a nn. I also like the suggestion of [name]Molly[/name] and would use [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] or [name]Mary[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] as the full name.

First of all, I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Annie[/name]. [name]One[/name] of my all-time favorites and it ages so well! I think I prefer [name]Annie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] to [name]Annie[/name] [name]Maria[/name], but it isn’t a strong preference. I also really like [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] (though [name]Mary[/name] sounds fresher at the moment). I’m not wild about [name]Stella[/name] or [name]Estella[/name] as first names, but I think they’re ok in the middle spot. Oh, and while I really do love [name]Mary[/name], I don’t like the [name]Mary[/name] [name]Maria[/name] combo. In 1st name order, I’d have to go [name]Annie[/name], [name]Mary[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] (really like all these) and [name]Estella[/name]/[name]Stella[/name] (eh…)
