Thoughts on Aoife (pronounced EE-fa)?

I’m not that worried about the whole pronunciation part of it as I live in [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] and even though it’s Irish Gaelic I can’t see it being too much of a problem here.

The only reason I’m considering it is because I was reading a book of Celtic fairytales to my daughter and the name [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] is in it and my husband and I both kind of want to name our children literary names (it’s not a must though) and I thought this was a nice kind of match.

I’m not sure if it goes with our daughter’s name [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] though? [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Aoife[/name_f]?

Honest opinions on the name please? (Her middle names would be [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] if that helps…).

Thanks!

I think it’s cute. I know of a little [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] (in the US). I think [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] sound fine together, the only thing is that I would think an [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] came from a mostly if not all Irish family, whereas [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] feels more exotic. But if you don’t mind having a multi-culturally influenced family of names, why not?

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], btw. Oh yeah, you’ll have [name_m]French[/name_m] in there too

One last thought-- I do view [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] as cute while [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is more beautiful. If that helps.

I absolutely love [name_f]Aoife[/name_f]. [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is lovely too and I think they sound nice together. [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] is a gorgeous combo!

[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] Is a great name. I also knew how to pronounce it. [name_f]Effy[/name_f] is a cute nick name. Sounds Ok with [name_f]Cressida[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Aoife[/name_f], its my friends daughters name and I’ve always loved it (im a little jealous). her sisters name is [name_f]Erin[/name_f] which I also love.

I think [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] make good sisters, too!

I love the name [name_f]Aoife[/name_f]. I may be a little biased though because it is my name  I love having a unique name and always get so many compliments on my name.

Wow thanks for finally telling me how to pronounce [name_f]Aoife[/name_f]. I’ve seen it all over the message boards but I never know how to say it. [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] sounds really cute!! [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is a bit more detailed but I do think they make a great sibset. [name_f]My[/name_f] only question is if [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] is too close to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]? (E beginning, a ending). Maybe [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] would be better? But I don’t know what your last name is, so I can’t really make that call.
