My husband and I are considering the name [name]August[/name] for our first son, due in [name]July[/name].
When you hear the name [name]August[/name], do you immediatley think of the month [name]August[/name] or do you consider it a name in it’s own right?
I compare it to the names [name]April[/name], [name]May[/name] or [name]June[/name] which I don’t automatically think of as months only, but since [name]August[/name] is less used does it only become a month and not a name?
I love the sound of it and the meaning, but am concerned that others will only consider the summer month. [name]Will[/name] everyone ask my son “Oh, were you born in [name]August[/name]?”
I want some input, but don’t want to ask family members for fear of negative backlash. Please help!

If I could only talk my husband into it we would be naming our son [name]August[/name].

I do associate it with the month, but I still like it as a name and think it’s as much a name as [name]April[/name], [name]May[/name], or [name]June[/name], but [name]August[/name] is a cooler name. I especially like the nickname [name]Gus[/name] for it.
I definitely associate [name]August[/name] with the month. I would assume that he was born in [name]August[/name] and it would seem odd to me to meet a child named [name]August[/name] when there is no special connection to that month. (I know an [name]April[/name] who was not born or conceived in [name]April[/name], and I think it’s a little odd.) I do like the name [name]August[/name], but it seems feminine to me.
