Thoughts On Augustus

Hey, Berries! I need help ASAP! I’ve been obsessing over [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] for a while now, but that FIOS (Fault In Our Stars) reference has been bothering me greatly. Thoughts?!

I like [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. I have no idea what that reference is, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I think the nickname [name_u]Gus[/name_u] is cute and reminds me of [name_f]Cinderella[/name_f]

I love [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] and totally didn’t think of The Fault in our Stars until you mentioned it just now! I don’t think it was a big enough movie to make the name [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] link with that character only!

Funny, my husband I and just discussed this name the other day. I love it. I also love just [name_u]August[/name_u]. I haven’t read that book, but I wouldn’t worry about it. Books and movies are so fleeting in most situations, and think about how popular [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_u]Scout[/name_u] have gotten, those are clearly aligned with a work of literature and it hasn’t stopped people!

I really like [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. As a history buff, my main association with this name is [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], who was a really interesting person. It also has a great meaning.

I’m not familiar with the Fault In Our Stars book/film and had never heard of the character.

I love [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]! I don’t think the reference matters. It’s an old and we’ll established name from well befire the book/movie, and it’s one of those stories that I doubt anyone will really be talking about by the time a little one coming into the world now will be old enough for people to make a thing of it. The Fault In Our Stars honestly isn’t that iconic that it overrides an old world name like [name_m]Augustus[/name_m].

I love the name [name_u]August[/name_u] and I think [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] is amazing too  I don’t know the reference either!

I love it!! I wouldn’t worry about the association with a film. Most names would be associated with something. At least he wasn’t a bad character. It was a lovely film. I think it’s a good strong name and if you love it then go for it!

I love [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]! I didn’t even remember the association until you mentioned it. I agree with pp

My first association was with [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and the Chocolate Factory, I find that [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] sticks out from The Fault in our Stars more than [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] does.

Either way I don’t think people linking [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] to TFIOS is a bad thing at all. I quite like the name

[name_m]Augustus[/name_m] is a great name and I doubt the reference will be a problem. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is a very popular name and most people don’t associate it with the book. Also, there are so many books and movies that if you cared about every single name that could be associated with one, you would have no more names left.

I like [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] - I’m not sure that many people would know of that reference. That said, [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] or [name_u]August[/name_u] sound a little nicer in my opinion.
